Frizzy hair

I more or less do curly girl. All my products are CG friendly
I've recently had a good hair cut so it's not that but I am struggling with frizz. This was before and after the cut. I get one good day then it turns into straight frizz. I prefer to wash every 3 days but it is looking terrible after the first day and now too short to put up
It makes no difference if I use mousse or gel the same happens. Has anyone come across a product that will rescue it at the frizz stage so I don't have to wash it?

Do you use a curl activating cream before gel/mousse?

Beetlebrooker · 16/05/2021 18:14

I feel your pain. I posted last week but only had one response - bought some of the oil suggested but still look like hagrid sadly.

What have you already tried? I've never found anything to stick down the frizz effectively (apart from v expensive keratin treatment).

It's really hard to find the right products isnt it!! I've come to realise my conditioner is the inportant factor, not styling porducts. 2.5 yrs into cgm and i've loosened my rules. I'm having a good run by alternating a proper shampoo and heavy conditioner (faith in nature avocado) with a co- wash and protein conditioner (either Aldi volume or Giovanni smooth as silk).
Can you play around with your wash day.

Also should say, i've not found a way of controlling frizz once its arrived, just that better wash days seem to result in better days 2&3.

Get a shiny pillowcase! Sounds daft but has helped cutdown the morning frizz on my very curly hair

nancy75 · 16/05/2021 18:25

And a water spray like you’d use for plants, a good misting in the morning definitely gives you another day of not having to wash your hair

I have a satin capGrin
I have experimented with and without curl cream and still get the frizx

Aveda do a curly range, try that. It’s ruinously expensive but effective.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 16/05/2021 19:21

I have read good things about the Aveda range, I'll give it a go

Put a leave in on soaking wet hair & a gel on top of that. I use a more moisturising gel as my hair is v dry. Curlsmith products are great but expensive.

Just posted this on another thread (I don't work for them, I swear!) but try Cantu Twist and Lock Gel. It's a really hydrating gel that you can smooth through day 2, 3 or 4 hair to take the frizz away. It doesn't leave any build up or crispness; it's more like a leave in conditioner really.

You only need a teeny tiny bit, it is very hydrating.

Just FYI I have been doing curly girl for about 3 years and also getting loads of frizz, got aveda in desperation thinking throwing money at the problem might help but it hasn't at all, in fact I think it's worse the washes I use it.

Mumski45 · 03/08/2021 06:29

I have curly/frizzy hair which behaves exactly as you describe. I have used frizz ease serum before mouse and a diffuser to dry it curly. This works to make my hair just about last 2 days unless I go for a very windy walk.

Ozanj · 03/08/2021 06:44

Keratin or Brazillian blow dry is the only thing that works for me. Expensive but means I don’t have to keep straighteners

Hissysnake · 03/08/2021 06:47

I still wet my hair everyday in between washes and then slap on a load more product. Don't know anyone who can leave their curly hair unstyled between washes.
