Sustainable bag

I’m after a sustainable (or something I can pick up second hand) nice bag that fits a laptop. I was thinking a backpack as it’s so practical.

I really love the idea of bobobark convertible backpack purse but the reviews are not very good. I was looking at Matt and Nat as their backpacks seem lovely but they are only a backpack and I wouldn’t mind something that had more ways or wearing it.

I go to soho house or works weekly and am feeling a bit like an older lady with a tatty old tote I got free with a book!

Alternatively I go for a mulberry Bayswater.

Bonus points if the backpack fits the tiny Ryanair free baggage specs.

Can anyone help? Or do I just get a handbag and a backpack?

How would you differentiate between a sustainable bag and one which isn't.

Just buy a bag which isn't plastic and don't toss it in the garbage next year.

What I mean by a sustainable bag is one with good supply chain that pays with workers well, sources it’s materials from responsible sources or reuse material etc. If someone is certified B Corp that would also be good (but I don’t then it’s taken off in the fashion industry just yet)

Also not all plastic is bad. There are some lovely recycled plastic bags out there that shouldn’t be overlooked (but that’s not what I’m looking for now)

I don’t toss anything in the bin! I believe in a circular economy

I've got a hosepipe tote. It's lightweight and seems indestructible.

Marimekko make some practical and stylish canvas bags, I have the large Pieni Unikko in black, but there are more colourful options too:

I also have a smaller Marimekko canvas messenger bag that has lasted 15 years of almost daily use and is still in good condition (colour a bit faded).
