Clarins instant concealer 1... alternative?

Like others, I'm gutted that Clarins have changed their instant concealer, and from the reviews, for the worse. Plus reports are that their new colours don't match. Has anyone who used the old Clarins #1 shade found a good colour alternative? Either from their new range, or elsewhere? I'm fed up with shelling out for products that are on the yellow spectrum rather than pink, I end up looking jaundiced! So far I've tried NYX light ivory which, from the packaging, was the closest I could get from my local Boots (it's OK...), and Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer, where I probably got the wrong shade (they have lots, I got FL-T1 which was too yellow – plus it's not lasted long). I'd really like to know what other Clarins #1 users have found that works...

I’d like to know this too! What were Clarins thinking?!
I’ve heard the Fenty concealers are good but the shade selection is so wide (a good thing) I wouldn’t want to risk it without trying first. I also used to like the NARS creamy concealer but can’t remember what shade I was in that.

It's even worse trying to find a replacement in Covid times. I naively went to Boots this morning with my last scrap of #1 to try and do a colour comparison, only to realise that of course they have NO testers out for use. So now you have to guess by packaging, or trust that the camera app thing some brands offer isn't influenced by whatever the overhead lighting does to your skin colour – what little of it is showing behind a mask! I found more info on Stay Woke, seems I went for 'Fair Lady' and I think I should have tried 'White Pearl'... www.nordstrom.com/brands/uoma-beauty/foundation-shade-finder

I'm using IT Cosmetics ByeBye Under Eye in shade Light instead of Clarins now. I'm actually preferring it- better coverage and more hydrating. Why do Clarins do this? Over the years they've totally changed any foundation I liked too😡

Loving this concealer. Much much better than Shape Tape I was using.

Shade Vanilla. Think they are re-stocking soon.

Just checking... you don’t mean this one do you? It’s been my “go to” and regularly bought undereye concealer... forever 🙄

@HeraInTheHereAndNow yep, that’s the one unfortunately

Why do they do this? It’s supposedly a best seller for them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks all for the other suggestions, I'll look into those Smile. In terms of a colour match, the light ivory BTGC04 from NYX is pretty close, this is in the Born to Glow 'radiant concealer' range. It does have one of those faddy sponges on it – can't see why, I still use a finger to spread the product and I wonder how much will be lost into the sponge and not used on my face... but on the other hand it's definitely affordable. It spreads/blends quite nicely, not as full-coverage as NYX's 'cant stop won't stop' correction concealer, which I'm finding dries too quickly and highlights wrinkles later in the day... but I feel there's still a bit of blue showing through because I'm sleeping so badly just now. I got the other NYX in a different shade which is wrong for me (too yellow, the 'vanilla' shade) so perhaps I'll try that one in the light ivory to see if it gets rid of the blue. Although having just watched 'Glow-Up' on catch-up, apparently eye-bags are a trend so perhaps we should be rocking them after all!

Just to add another reason why I'm so frustrated about the Clarins concealer stopping. Yes, it was pricey – the only 'posh' make-up I buy – but the last one lasted me over 2 years. Whereas the Woke concealer I got in February is beginning to run out, and the packaging doesn't make it easy to get the last bits out. c.£22 for around 3-4 months use is not good.

Excellent – thanks. By the way, I went back to my local Boots to get the other shade of the NYX matt concealer, and when buying it the assistant said 'did you know that, because we've not got any testers out at the moment, if you buy something and the shade's not right you can bring it back with your receipt for a refund'. Which was useful to know, although frustrating as that's exactly why I was buying the item I was, but I hadn't thought to bring the other one back! (I'll perhaps use it for colour-mixing). Anyway, putting the info here in case it helps anyone else! www.boots-uk.com/our-stories/our-make-up-exchange-promise/

Hello, I am also upset that they are no longer making the instant concealer. I used the #2 color. Can anyone recommend a replacement. I don't feel like going into Nordstroms/Macys with the uptick in covid cases do to the new variants.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

rhtranter · 05/12/2021 17:35

Do you a match for the Clarins #2 instant concealer?

Mufflette · 05/12/2021 17:41

I replaced it originally with the Pat McGrath one which I found really similar (I was a shade 1 in Clarins so not sure what the match would be for 2).
