Shoes with a nice dress

What shoes with a 50's style fit and flare type dress? Navy with big polka dots, or green dresses. Need a size 8 (42) unfortunately.
I am not very stylish, but I love the dresses and want nice shoes.

I always think with these sort of dresses a small here with open toe or a closed toe chunky heel.
A bit like irregular choice (I think that's what they were called) style of shoe. Not so much the pattern just the style.

I like a lot of the irregular choice ones but they're just so over the top, I'm not sure I could pull them off! Plus I don't think they do a size 42.
