Hair! Please give me guidance about my hair - pics

I have been in a vicious circle for 20+ years of growing and then having my natural wavy/curly hair cut into an inverted Bob.
The minute I have it cut into a Bob I hate it because I am fat of face and I look crap.
I wonder if I should dye it but on the other hand I think white roots are ageing.
I'm at that place again where it's shoulder length and looking rubbish . Today I used Philip Kingsley Elastulizer and it still looks dry/frizzy/lifeless.

Do I dye it / cut it ? I really don't know what to do (I am mid 50's)

Do you blow dry it? I have wavy/curly and also switch between shoulder length and a Bob. Mine looks shite if I let it dry naturally no matter what product I use. It needs a good styling and then looks pretty good and bouncy and shiny (if that doesn’t sound too arrogant)

chocaholic73 · 14/05/2021 20:08

Can't see the pictures OP

Slub · 14/05/2021 20:31

I don't do anything just wash and dry naturally but I do add products- curl cream:serums/ leave in conditioner (not all at once though)!

Yeah mine would look rough if I left it to dry naturally. Some hair needs the manipulation. That’s my answer for you, start styling it. I’ve trained mine that I only have to wash and style every four days. It’s worth the 30 mins of washing and drying every four days for lovely hair the rest of the time

Oblomov21 · 14/05/2021 20:37

No dye. I think it looks great. Probably just needs a deep conditioning treatment from your hairdresser.

KidneyBeans · 14/05/2021 20:45

It's a great colour - don't dye it.

Have you tried curly girl method?

Basically you need a shampoo with Sulfates to remove silicon build up then switch to a silicone free shampoo and conditioner to maintain as silicone is terrible for curly hair and in SO Many shampoos/conditioners. I use this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01AVI0T06/ref=ppxyoomobbbtrackpackageeo0img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's brilliant and a tiny bit goes a long way

Then the garnier banana mask conditioner

I have that garnier banana conditioner and have used it as a normal conditioner in the shower plus I've used it as a leave in conditioner too.
Still have frizzy white hair.
Curly girl method seems complicated.

Re curly girl.
I don't have £££
Any High Street brands of shampoo/conditioner recommendations please ?

I love your hair! A body shop hair mask once a week is all I would do.

SomeKindOfFloppyWeirdo · 14/05/2021 22:21

@Slub

I don't do anything just wash and dry naturally but I do add products- curl cream:serums/ leave in conditioner (not all at once though)!
See I have curly hair and I do do those all at once! Smile Leave in conditioner first, then curl cream, then mousse on the ends/back and gel on the front (where it’s most damaged from years of straightening so always frizzes up without gel). I have quite fine hair, and I thought all of that would weigh it down, but it doesn’t seem to at all.

My hair was super frizzy before that, but tons of moisturizing conditioner and gel has really sorted it out. Best to mix a small - medium blob of gel with some water in your hand, work it through your hair (not the roots!) wait for it to dry completely, then scrunch your hair until the hardness of the gel is gone.

Having said all that, I think your hair looks great and I love the colour!

daisyjgrey · 14/05/2021 22:22

I'm wildly jealous of the colour, don't dye it!

If you can afford one bottle of Olaplex, go for one fo the treatments, you'll notice a huge difference. Mine is the same wave/texture as yours and Olaplex has really sorted my curl pattern out.

5128gap · 14/05/2021 22:24

Its beautiful, both the colour and the waves. I'd grow it longer.

SomeKindOfFloppyWeirdo · 14/05/2021 22:25

Oh and high street brands - I use Garnier ultimate blends argan oil shampoo, John Frieda dream curls deep conditioner, Garnier hair food papaya as a leave in, John Frieda dream curls curl cream, I think wella curls mousse, and VO5 mega hold styling gel. All pretty cheap Smile (the John Frieda can be a bit pricey if not on offer, but the curl cream lasts ages.)

treehearts · 14/05/2021 22:25

A couple of the Faith in nature ones are curly girl approved, £3.99 in tkmax

NoMLMbots · 14/05/2021 22:25

Treatment and cut into a better shape

Alternista · 14/05/2021 22:26

God, do not dye that, it’s stunning!
Work on the curl.

Woulditbeworth · 14/05/2021 22:26

Love the natural colour and wave.

I agree with pp, my hair looks crap if I don’t properly dry and style it. It’s weight pulls half the waves out so it’s a half straight, half wavy mess if left to its own devices. I still leave it half the time because I can’t be arsed.

If it’s not how you want it, I would def put some effort into trying to style it more before you do anything drastic.

cronk23 · 14/05/2021 22:27

You don't need £££ for the curly girl method. The Alberto Balsam conditioner is only £1 and CG friendly.

cronk23 · 14/05/2021 22:28

And they XHC conditioners are £1 in savers.

treehearts · 14/05/2021 22:29

Using the jojoba ones at the minute.

Boatygirl · 14/05/2021 22:31

Do not dye it. My hair was v similar to yours and I cracked and dyed it brown.

Massive mistake and I now need to grow it out again!

I found if I blow dried my roots only my hair was less frizzy and more wavy.

People always complemented it --until I dyed it fucking brown again--

Notashandyta · 14/05/2021 22:34

I love your hair!

Have you tried a side parting?

HoneyDragon · 14/05/2021 22:39

The garnier bananna conditioner you have now is suitable for going curly girl and just washing with conditioner.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 14/05/2021 22:50

I echo previous posters- do NOT dye it, it's a stunning colour! And maybe try John Frieda Frizzease - think it's about a fiver, but a little goes a LONG way.
And have you considered a fringe?
