What to wear to first job interview in a decade!

Looks like I may have a job interview, after 10 years as a stay at home parent. I'm terrified! I don't know yet if it will be face to face in some capacity, but I am expecting so. What can I wear? I feel so out of touch. It's in higher education, non-teaching, office based. I am tall and fat (particularly tummy area) so with that and the fact it's not the usual corporate setting that I'm used to, I feel like I don't want to be particularly stylish, just not a frump. I feel most confident in black trousers of some description - I'm tall so tend to buy long length from Next - but straight leg, boot cut?? Shoes or boots (need to be flat)?? Then top half, some sort of tummy forgiving top? Alone or with a blazer or jacket? Thank you to anyone who can help!

I work in HE and I would say black trousers and a smart shirt would be fine. If you have a jacket wear it but I wouldn't bother buying one. Saying that, are you meeting face to face or on Teams? If on Teams just wear a smart shirt and whatever you want!! HE is not the most glamorous area to work in so just look clean and tidy and you will be fine!

What @anotherday235 said. Don't over think it, black trousers and a nice blouse will be fine. Good luck!

Don’t overdo it. Black trousers and a shirt is great. You want to look as if you took trouble with your appearance but not look as if you are going to a wedding. I nearly lost the best job I ever had in HE because I wore a dress and jacket and they thought I might be too stuffy! And good luck!

Thanks everyone! That sounds manageable! I don't know yet if it will be a Teams interview or face to face. My wardrobe budget would appreciate a Teams interview so that I just need to buy a nice shirt!! But at the same time I hate Teams/Zoom so think I'd perform better face to face....

I've recently been told that suits are out, and smart top with trousers is the more modern look.
