Subtle makeover

I'm feeling a bit crap about myself so the moment and I'd like to do a subtle makeover. Nothing to drastic or too much maintenance as I'm pretty slack but if any one can offer some simple things I'd be so grateful.

Look up Glow Up videos on YouTube for inspiration.
I suppose a subtle makeover might be diet/exercise overhaul, good haircut/colour, light fake tan, simple neutral nail polish, eyebrow definition, tinted moisturiser and a good rose neutral lip gloss.
Or were you asking about clothes?

Eyebrow shape and tint? Lash lift? It depends what you do currently and what's most likely to give you a confidence boost. I dont do any beauty treatments in a salon apart from my hair cut but if I could I could afford it I would have a lash lift and some form of brow maintenance as they make a real difference to the face. Oh and I would have a manicure/pedicure occasionally.

Things that have made a difference to me are a good simple skin care routine, minimal makeup with products I enjoy using and a capsule wardrobe of clothes I actually like (mostly ebay bargains). I miss my clothes at the moment as I'm in maternity wear.

Thank you for responding. I have quite pale skin but very dark features so eyebrow shape might be a good idea. My eyelashes are very long and black so no tint needed. What is a lift? Is that like a perm for eyelashes?

My clothes aren't the best. I have lost nearly 30lbs since the beginning of the year so I'm in over sized clothes because I'm struggling to buy any because I don't know what style to go for. I'm very casual but not sure if I should try and smarten up. I've been looking at the every day wear thread and the outfits on there look so effortless but I'd feel like a dick in most of them because I'm not used to looking nice.

Wow op. That's an amazing weight loss.
You absolutely do deserve to look good in nice clothes, as does everyone.

Would you be brave enough to post a pic or describe yourself a bit?

OhDearOhDearx · 14/05/2021 20:44

Thank you. Not brave for a photo but I'm 33, had my first (and only) baby at the end of Nov 19. So although I'm now back down to pre pregnancy weight I'm squishy Blush. I'm a size 10 top and 12 bottom. Small bust and sort of narrow hourglass shape but slight rounded stomach. Looks wise I'm just plain I think. I have dark features (strong eyebrows and eye lashes) but pale (ish) skin and fairly full lips. I work outside so my skin does suffer and I try use a SPF moisturizer when I remember!

A lash lift just curls them and lasts for 6-8 weeks as I understand it. I think it's supposed to do away with the need for curlers and mascara! I have very straight eyelashes which is why I'd like to try it. Amazing weight loss! I hope i can achieve similar post baby.

Clothes wise what about trying out some different styles of jeans to find what you like? Then some t shirts or shirts but try different necklines to see what suits you...easy basic outfit and you can change the look with jacket/footwear/accessories. It's worth watching Justine LeContes videos on you tube. She has covered how to work out your body shape, then how to dress for that shape. Lots on capsule wardrobe, how to choose quality clothing, finding what suits you from hair cut to shoes.

For basic skin care there are loads of threads on here. I learnt from Caroline Hirons blog but prefer Nadine Baggott on youtube for more affordable options and her simpler routines....although mine is even simpler than hers.

There are endless minimal makeup tutorials on YouTube as it's on trend right now. Beware minimal makeuo that takes 30 minutes though....those videos seem to be very product heavy.
