what jackets with wider trousers

Having a total clothes conundrum. Trying to join the wider trousers brigade but am totally at a loss as to what coats/jackets to pair them with. Everything in my wardrobe seems to be geared towards skinny jeans i.e. baggy and wide on top. Clearly, this doesn't work with wider trousers.

Am also 40 and only 5.3 (size 6) so too much baggy just looks wrong on me plus am still desperate not to look too frumpy. Anyone got any tips/suggestions. Totally lost right now.......thanks!!!!!

The fashion at the moment is loose on top and bottom or cropped and right up top and loose on bottom. I think at your height and size, personally, wide leg trousers would look odd. You’re probably better off getting a slim or straight leg to give you some shape

I'm 40, 5'4 and have a pair of very wide leg full length jeans. I would only wear them with a cropped jacket otherwise your proportions will be way off and you'll look super short

Avoid jackets with collars would be my suggestion.

I'm very fond of Reiss clothing. To me this look is timeless.

I'm 5'2 and just bought some great balloon trousers from Kin. I intend to wear them with a top tucked in and a short, minimal jacket - denim or leather.

oh wow, lots of good ideas. that outfit from Reiss is fab! It's weird - I got the whole thing sussed and am even happy to no longer have to squeeze myself into skinny jeans till I get to the jacket/coat bit. I mean in winter - a nice woolen coat really works or a trench. But I can't exactly wear my trench in the summer. Will have a look for short jackets

Def fitted leather jackets. Also cropped, boxy ones, with a tighter layer top under (and over the pants).
