Using vitamin E capsules in a DIY hand cream recipe

HenryHoudini2007 · 14/05/2021 11:15

Please can anybody help as above?
The recipe that I am using asks for 2 vitamin E capsules along with shea butter, plus essential oils.
The recipe says add the capsules and essential oils after melting the shea butter, but doesn’t say whether to add whole capsules, or whether I prick them to extract the oil. Would the capsules melt with the warm shea butter?
Which one is it?
TIA 💐

You squeeze out the contents.

All of the capsules I've had (but granted, not Vit E) have been with a twist off bit, intended to help empty the capsule before use.

Blooming heck, they are not very big so I’ll have to find a pair of tweezers and a needle 😣. Could I use vitamin oil from a bottle instead? I think there will only be about a teaspoons worth from the capsules altogether.

Hmm, these are from the supermarket (to be taken orally). These are ok still to use, right? No twist off bits unfortunately.

Oh ok, I didn't realise that, I assumed skin care Blush. Yes, go for it, then come back and tell us if it's really good!

Also, if it's vit E in a bottle, I don't see why not.

Thank you @SpongeBobJudgeyPants. I’m expecting baby soft hands at the end of it all 😊. See, I didn't know you could get cosmetic grade (?) capsules with twisty off bits 😳 ‘I’ll have a look out for them, but until then I’ll go for vitamin E oil from a bottle. Far less mess, I bet.😄

I don't know if you can get them in Vit E. I'm thinking about the serum ones that I've stopped buying, because they were so expensive
Yes, you need baby-soft hands for it to be worth it! Grin
