Hi
I'm sick of being the size I am so am going to start doing couch to 5k and other work outs.
I'm looking for some exercise leggings (preferably £20 and under) in a size 16. There are so many to choose from but all with mixed reviews.

Which are your favourites?

I like decathlon for sports clothes. They do some nice midi length leggings for warmer days with a phone pocket. When it’s colder I wear their running tights with shorts over the top. Everything is very reasonably priced although I do sometimes get confused with their sizing.

Good luck with the c25k!

PurpleDaisies · 13/05/2021 22:17

Yes to decathlon.
I have a fair bit from Sainsbury’s which has lasted well.

MsSquiz · 13/05/2021 22:19

I'm a 14 and wear love leggings focus 7/8. They're £32 but there might be a discount code around if you have a google. I find them really comfy, ideal length for me at 5'1" and they're yet to have eroded where my thighs rub together after a good 6 months of regular wear

HalleLouja · 13/05/2021 22:20

I have some lovely leggings from Decathlon, Matalan and Gap.

OublietteBravo · 13/05/2021 22:29

My favourite exercise leggings come from M&S. I think they’re about £25. I like them much more than the ones I have from Sweaty Betty which cost £££.

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 13/05/2021 23:05

M&S or Tesco.

mommybear1 · 13/05/2021 23:08

M and s - 12.50'best running leggings I own I have had Sweaty Betty and other high end - these win hands down

Selkiesarereal · 13/05/2021 23:10

I live near a Nike outlet so everything comes from there. Would not pay the cost of things from sweaty Betty though!

User12340987 · 13/05/2021 23:13

ASOS do some great ones in their own brand, type in A505 in search. Leggings just as good as an expensive Nike pair

Extrapepperoni · 13/05/2021 23:13

To each their own. I started properly exercising this year (and did couch to 5k back end of last year to get me started) and decided I'd motivate myself with nice looking workout gear for it. I love my sweaty Betty leggings and have paired them with plain black and white lululemon tops. Don't forget good sports bras too - I use berlei. Good luck!

Houseofvelour · 13/05/2021 23:16

Thanks everyone! A lot of brands for me to check out :)
Decathlon sounds popular and I'd not heard of them so I'll definitely be checking them out in the morning :)

I think Tesco do great gym leggings! They last really well too!

SkiingIsHeaven · 13/05/2021 23:27

TKMax have good stuff generally and it is reasonably priced.

Onynx · 13/05/2021 23:28

There's a brand called Peachy Lean- they are Irish, super supportive, v high waisted and squat proof but a little too warm for the summer months for me. M&S I like but Sweaty Betty were a game changer, high waisted, drawstring, various lengths, silky smooth yet no vpl and there are always 20% discount codes floating around. Can't advise on bras because I have yet to find a single one I like that isn't like wrestling an octopus to get in & out of xx

ILoveShula · 14/05/2021 11:34

Definitely get a High Impact Sports Bra. It won't be comfy but nothing will budge.

ILoveShula · 14/05/2021 11:43

Don't worry too much about the leggings at this stage. Cheap ones will be fine to start with - e.g.priark, sorts direct.

With the bra, the ones with a normal bra fastening are a lot easier to put on than the racer back ones you pull on then fasten.

Good luck and please report on your progress.

dementedpixie · 14/05/2021 11:47

I like panache ultimate underwired sports bras. They keep my 36GGs in place

I have mainly matalan leggings - I prefer capri rather than full length.

I have tops from Curvissa as they do plus sizes and I need a 22 for the top

ExConstance · 14/05/2021 11:59

I'm on week 5 of C25k and have been running in some very old Matalan leggings that look fine, coupled with a next top form a couple of years back. I do have two Sweaty Betty bras but they are an exercise session in themselves to put on. I see all sorts of people running in the village and none of us care too much what we look like. Do get yourself something high viz if you are on the road, I have a little harness type thing with flashing lights front and back. I only turn the lights on if it is very early in the morning when I go out but at least if I do get run over the bastard will have no excuse if i'm done up like a Christmas tree.

PurpleDaisies · 14/05/2021 14:16

I’ve found thd best sports bras for me are shock absorber multi active sports. They a still a tiny bit tricky to get on but the key thing is they don’t have a clip near your neck which I find impossible to do up. If you do order one, go up a band size because they do fit very snuggly.

I’d really recommend boobydoo online for sports bras. They have great offers and the customer service has been really good. When you find a style you like, just watch for it on special offer and buy another one. You really can’t have too many sports bras!

dementedpixie · 14/05/2021 14:39

It's boobydoo I get my panache ones from. They fasten like a normal bra. I couldn't get the sizing right with shock absorber even with playing about with back and cup sizes

PurpleDaisies · 14/05/2021 15:15

I really like the look of the panache ones but I’m in between sizes with them. I guess most people find a style/brand that works and stay loyal.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 14/05/2021 15:18

I do like the matalan leggings - cheap price, good quality material, nice broad waistband which goes over my tummy, funky styles. Sainsburys also have some good ones.

MayflowerMaisie · 14/05/2021 17:35

M&S loads of super co-ordinating pieces. Really great quality, and reasonably priced. I love their two piece tops, with co-ordinating Capri length leggings - with a phone pocket on the side, and rear pocket.

paradyning · 14/05/2021 18:19

As a similar size to you make sure you get drawstring in your leggings otherwise they'll just fall down all the time. M&S go move leggings are great for this

dinodiva · 14/05/2021 18:35

Another vote for M&S here. I really rate their high impact sports bras.
Check out eBay too - I’ve got sweaty Betty leggings there for much less than the retail price.
