Shoes for Dog Walking - stylish, cool haha!

ok, i'm going through a bit of a mid-life crisis. I always look a scruff.

My dog walking shoes are 18 years old and I need new ones.

We mainly do off road walking (country fields/forest etc) and wear wellies in the winter.

What are the cool young things wearing?

Oh no you can’t send them back!!

Surely it’s doubly worth it, since they are so expensive, and so beautiful, to wait until they fit you perfectly??

Nearlyadoctor · 13/05/2021 09:48

@QueenOfToast - not really, I wore them for a couple of short walks initially with thickish socks but that was all.

Ninkanink · 13/05/2021 09:52

Blister plasters and two pairs of socks and you’re sorted!

I live in a stylish area and wear these Danner when it's muddly, I also have an old pair of the thick soled vejas.

Otherwise it's just trainers.

I think the Grensons are also a staple here.

like the pp said, the coat is also important - I have a rains raincoat for spring/autumn and various puffer/duvet coats and jackets for other weather, plus an array of hats.

And the obligatory cockapoo Wink

The danner boots are really lightweight and don't weigh you down in long walks. Also waterproof and non slip. Very practical!

Crappyfridays7 · 13/05/2021 11:32

I get absolutely filthy on dog walks so I’m not spending £££ on fancy shoes I just wear Salomon walking shoes or my merrells I do have wellies but not comfy for walking any distance and flip flops too flimsy/converse comfy for shopping but uneven ground is an issue. I came out of the woods with muddy paw prints all over my jeans and shoes were unrecognisable- all clean now mind you.

Crappyfridays7 · 13/05/2021 11:34

I clearly am doing something wrong need to check out some of these suggestions, my sister has really fancy dog training boots she’s never out of them, I like those Danner boots am scared to look at the rest or I may end up v skint

@Crappyfridays7 - I was thinking Merrells or North Face (which I'm replacing) before I started this thread.

Yep I get covered in mud... I have Spaniels which are more the thing than Cockerpoos here.

I’ve got Salomon walking shoes which are brilliant - watertight and very cushioned and comfortable. I wore them all through winter, and they’re light enough to wear in summer. So I’d definitely recommend them. But I didn’t think that’s what you had in mind when you asked what the cool young things are wearing...

Well... that's why I asked - I assumed what I was thinking wasn't cool - more mumsy and practical. I knew I wouldn't be able to think of something cool on my own :D

I think the solution is to get both! 😉

Theaspidistraiswilting · 13/05/2021 21:14

Blundstones every time! I wear them for everything and have done for 40 years and now they are trendy!

Fairfax and Favor Boudiccas. Best money ever spent and soooo comfy
