I know the answer really, Its too young for me but it would hide all the bits I don't like Smile top of arms, tummy. I'm 60.

Isn't it pretty though?

@MayIDestroyYou

Unhelpful, ShirleyPhallus ...

Though, tbh, the second dress is so bad I almost suspect the OP of 'avin' a larf at our expense ...

It was just a joke! Matches is a great shout, even though some of it is ridiculously expensive and fashionably questionable it has some real gems
Wildswimming3 · 12/05/2021 09:36

In 5 foot 4, size twelve and would feel very uncomfortable in anything fitted, this was me on my wedding day I
m fair with blonde, reddish highlights and my hair is longer now. I don't like my wrinkly bits!

Nice dress in itself. You're right about it being too young for you - it's the sort of thing that little girls might wear to a family wedding - if their parents were miffed that they hadn't been asked to be bridesmaids.

WhatMattersMost · 12/05/2021 09:39

Oh, you're beautiful, OP! And the dress you're suggesting won't do you justice.

You're very pretty!

I can see that it's a bit girly girl with the style and also it being pink... You being blonde and pretty might also nudge it in that direction tbh, whereas someone with different colouring might be able to pull it off.

What would you wear it with? Shoes, bag, cover-up, belt? I would steer well clear of a fascinator.

Wildswimming3 · 12/05/2021 09:43

@whatmattersmost I'm mortified by some of the comments. I'm going to slope of quietly now. Thanks for your nice comment though Smile

I was in two minds about adding a Grin, Shirley ...

I'm very curious about how the Matches people must feel about having such a vast quantity of unsold, needing to be reduced, clothing.

And beyond impatient with all the Coast, Phase 8, style-free wrap dress apologists who assemble on S&B with far too much alacrity.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 12/05/2021 09:47

You are beautiful OP but that dress is not! Wear something that makes you look fabulous!

Wildswimming3 · 12/05/2021 09:50

I definitely won't wear it!!!

OP posts:
Malin52 · 12/05/2021 09:53

You are stunning OP! That dress is a definite no as well given your colouring.

Please don't shy away from something lightly fitted. It will look a hundred times better than something that 'hides the bits' You look amazing in your wedding dress!

MayIDestroyYou · 12/05/2021 09:54

OP I don't understand why you're feeling mortified. Surely you came to S&B for help to look your best self at the wedding? Every single person who's posted is keen to assist you.

Why not stay and see if the thread can find you something perfect?

ThatIsMyPotato · 12/05/2021 09:56

Maybe something semi-fitted?

Wildswimming3 · 12/05/2021 09:58

Probably because I've worn that dress a few times and I looked like I was in my nightmares Grin

OP posts:
inappropriateraspberry · 12/05/2021 10:03

I don't think it's bridal, but not appropriate for a wedding unless you're 20! It reminds me of Killing Eve.
Something more fitted and sophisticated would be much better.

inappropriateraspberry · 12/05/2021 10:04

Do you have a budget in mind for a new dress? Maybe we can help find something. What colours do you like wearing?

MayIDestroyYou · 12/05/2021 10:04

What is your maximum budget?

(Be assured, OP - we are of an age. And I would be mortified if I were not the best dressed person in any room.)

WhatMattersMost · 12/05/2021 10:09

I love these dresses:

rookiemere · 12/05/2021 10:15

How about something like this : www.phase-eight.com/product/brandie-lace-bodice-chiffon-dress-208943501.html#cgid=occasion&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=208943501&pos=16 it's not too fitted and has a similar vibe to the original two dresses but executed in a more formal fashion.

Wildswimming3 · 12/05/2021 10:16

Probably £200.

I like this and probably my tummy wouldn't show too much. But I'm too short and again suspect is too bridal

My friend wore a dress similar to my wedding @overstretched she looked beautiful. I think I'm too short.

I like the phase 8 dress

Grin

This is my dd's and I motto.

We do have some lovely stuff, but I know where to shop. We don't live in the UK and we get a lot of branded stuff reduced and they sell in overun type places. I always say we have no excuse not to look nice.

OP, fair warning..... you are going to get many lovely ideas from this thread Smile
