I cannot tell you how much I love it, it is SO FLATTERING on.

I had no intention of buying it but it called to me and as I haven’t splurged for blooming ages I treated myself.

BUT it’s a pricey item (for me) and I need (ok and want) to wear it loads. I have a decent plain white T like it’s styled with. I also have a lemon yellow T.

Could I also try it with a white shirt? A pale blue shirt? Tucked in and sleeves rolled up?

Any other ideas? I did try it on in the store with the pale blue sweatshirt (fitted not floppy) I was wearing and it looked great (I thought) but does that sound silly?

And footwear options. I tried it with white trainers (which I wear all the time) but would plain ish sandals work too? I have black flat ones.

Loafers? I have nice tan ones.

Styling advice much appreciated!

I am early 40s, size 10/12.

Thank you!

Shirts in white, lemon or pale blue, even black
Fitted crew neck fine gauge knits, jumper or cardigan
Plain t shirts
Shell tops too
Said tops with ether a fitted Demi jacket and straw bag with white trainers, clogs or tan palmero or Birkenstock type sandals.

Thank you Atalune!

I want clogs now...

Have all the rest you suggest in my wardrobe so will experiment!

My (only) sandals are black but they’re plain and fairly light-weight (ie not too much black leather) so I’m hoping they would work. Would love tan sandals but trying to limit purchases.

Any t-shirt/blouse/jumpe/sweatshirt in one of the colours in the skirt, including with an image on.
Breton striped top would also work.

You could also do a bright contrasting colour like orange, possibly with a skinny yellow belt over the top.

Shoes-wise trainers, block sandals, ballet pumps, loafers, ankle boots, could all work.

Thanks Palavah. I will try it with a Breton, I have a couple. Love love the idea of trying orange, I do have a bright orange blouse that I can try and see how it works!

What a beautiful skirt that is, am rather envious! It won't date either, you could wear it in 10 years time so I'd say it was money well spent Grin

You could easily wear your plain black sandals with it, the lemon print does all the talking and needs no extras. As for tops, I can't really add to what pp have said - any plain boring vest/tee in the right colour will look the bees knees with the skirt.

I think white runners are lovely with it. Because it is quite short and you really see the runners, I'd make sure they were really immaculate. There is no grunge vibe with this. I think a tidy blouse in loads of different colours, within the skirt or contrasting (Orange mentioned). Black sandals should be fine as the navy is very dark. Maybe an ankle boot for a colder day?

Nice skirt. Denim jacket, shirt tied at the waist? Black t shirt.Striped would look good too.

There’s a cute retro vibe there.

I love this

I love that skirt. I have short legs so midi skirts are always a bit too long, but I'm not comfortable in skirts above my knees. I'm going to watch out for it to be reduced. I don't think I can bring myself to spend that on a casual skirt. Enjoy it!

Lovely! I’d wear tan leather flip flops with that and a plain t shirt tucked in. Also like the denim shirt above

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 12/05/2021 09:25

Thanks so much everyone, great advice, I agree it wouldn’t worked styled grungily so I hope I am myself immaculate enough to pull it off (I’m not immaculate. At all. But I’m not into grunge style, I’m just accidentally a bit scruffy)

Huge thanks, if I’m brave enough I might post a pic or two...

I love the idea of a breton top and a denim jacket.. I’d wear tan sandals or chunky black ones ... post a pic of it on!

In colder weather a black thin knit polo neck jumper, with a denim jacket over and some white trainers would look lovely with it
