Help me choose a Mulberry bag

Im looking to buy a new bag. I already have the Bayswater in pale slate which I adore. What I’m looking for is a small bag that I can use when we travel again - something that is totally safe (and big enough) to fit wallet, passport etc for the airport. The essentials only. But small enough I can use as a clutch on holiday. I suffer with a bad back so a heavy bag is definitely out.

I’m literally going round in circles! My style is quite girly girly although I’ve shaken things up a bit recently (and loving it) by having my hair clipped off! I don’t like dark brown or black, love bright colours and ice cream shades.

Any advice? Which to avoid??

How exciting. I can’t recommend the Lily enough. It’s my favourite bag ever. I use it every day and always feel it pulls my outfit together no matter what I am wearing. It’s big enough for a small purse, sunglasses, keys, phone and lip balm. I have it in black but they do have it in a lovely bright pink or an apricot colour at the moment - both really pretty. I have the Bayswater too but I find I rarely use it because I find it too heavy for me. The Lily is light and because of the lock I always feel it’s safe. Have fun choosing!

Would you not prefer to spend the money on a bench instead?

ShirleyPhallus · 10/05/2021 20:38

In all seriousness, the Lily is beautiful but so is the Amberley. I’d go for oxblood or hibiscus if they still have it

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 10/05/2021 20:46

I have a small Alexa in a putty colour which is lovely and can be worn over a shoulder or crossbody
I must admit my favourite ever for travelling is my ancient Alexa Camera Bag which is small but deep from front to back so things almost stack in vertically, one behind the other, if that makes sense. This is the closest thing I can see to it

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 10/05/2021 20:49

Hi, I would go for the Lily or Darley - both beautiful and would fit your brief.

Daisydoesnt · 11/05/2021 09:33

Thanks so much ladies - it seems Lily is the front runner with Darley in second place! It seems like I need to avoid the small Bayswater as I definitely don’t want anything heavy because of my back.

@QueenOfTheDoubleWide I love that Alexa camera bag - I didn’t know what it was at the time but an old colleague used to have one of those. Love the style.

Thank you again

Im eyeing up the darley - I have the small Bayswater in tan and black and although both lovely and small - still too heavy for travel.

I love the lily but prefer a full leather strap as opposed to a chain.

permaconfused · 11/05/2021 09:44

I'm thinking oxblood - versatile colour.

Blissful · 11/05/2021 18:22

I have a Bayswater in oxblood and it is the most versatile colour ever, with winter and summer wear. I used if every day for work (teacher) but it is heavy so I wouldn't consider it for airport travel (whatever that is... I've forgotten!).

I live near Kilver Court and I always look at the Lily - it is a beautiful, timeless design, I think so I would definitely go for it!

Blossomtoes · 11/05/2021 18:35

I have a Tessie satchel which is the perfect small bag but it appears to have been discontinued. I’d love a Lily, so pretty.

rhombuspocahontas · 11/05/2021 18:45

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but have you seen the Bayswater satchel? The cloud colour is lovely.

Elsabet · 11/05/2021 19:00

I have the mini Darley in the Mulberry pink. I am not sure if the mini would fit a passport etc but for sightseeing and mooching it would be a good size.

Help me choose a Mulberry bag
Daisydoesnt · 11/05/2021 21:55

Hi @Blissful we’re about 20 mins from Shepton so we’re practically neighbours?! We live over the hill from the festival site.

Anyway, after hours and hours going round in circles and lots of advice on here I jumped onto Net a Porter ....and bought a Gucci Mormont small. In black. I can’t quite explain it but it just felt like the right bag for me as soon as i saw it.Grin

Although it’s what I was looking for in terms of size etc it’s obv not a mulberry! Thank you again for all the advice

Good choice OP! Pic when it arrives please 😊

Crazydogmumma · 11/05/2021 22:30

I just looked at the Lily in pink- it is soooooo lovely! I really want to buy it!

permaconfused · 14/05/2021 07:39

Congrats! Enjoy the bag....I love bags - I don't buy expensive clothes but the bag makes me feel polished.

I have a Tessie satchel too, great bag. I noticed they have some pre loved ones on Mulberry’s site.

I’d love a Lily or a Darley satchel.

Ninkanink · 15/05/2021 14:22

@Daisydoesnt Ohhhh how exciting! Please could we see a photo in situ?

Ninkanink · 15/05/2021 14:33

@Elsabet that’s so lovely (I think I saw you post it on another thread as well?) Such a pretty colour! I’m interested in that bag but maybe in black as I just realised I’ve done so much clearing out that I don’t have any black bags at all anymore!

Elsabet · 15/05/2021 16:47

@Ninkanink thank you. All my other bags are black or I have one in clay so this makes a lovely change. It’s already had 3 outings in 2 weeks!

Blissful · 16/05/2021 14:15

What a coincidence, @Daisydoesnt ! Your bag purchase looks perfect - hope you enjoy it.

I am now looking at these totes, what do you think?

I think they look great for travel. I love them but maybe not cutting edge fashion?
