I don't understand jeans anymore

Help me please! I just want to wear a pair of jeans that are both flattering and comfortable - is that possible? I am 5'9 and size 10/12 with a very chunky bottom half; legs, hips, bum. I really want something which is flattering and shaper on the tum but then loose and comfy on the legs. Any ideas?

Next 'Enhancer' slim leg - they hold everything in up top but are loose enough in the lower leg not to make me look like a parsnip.

I (embarrassingly so) have around 50 pairs of jeans - I'm for we in search of the perfect pair. Today I've just bought the holy grail of denim in the shape of a pair of h&m straight leg high ankle jeans.
Hands down the most comfortable and flattering pair of jeans I now own. So much so, I'm thinking of buying another 2/3 pairs for when they wear out!
And they were only £17.99!

Cotswoldmama · 10/05/2021 17:47

@serpenta yes they are roll downable. I wear mine with heeled chunky above ankle Chelsea boots to gain some height!

I recently bought these

Very pleasantly surprised!

I am a pair shape with a defined waist. I ordered 10 and 12 but opted to keep the 12 as the 10 gave me a slight VPL. They don't balloon around the waist at all and are very flattering

Could you kindly give a link...thanks so much

@Cotswoldmama I love those jeans that you linked but how can the sizing be bang on when that super slim model is wearing a size 14?! I’m really confused about what to order as I would’ve guessed 12 but am rethinking based on the the model’s sizing!

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 12/05/2021 07:15

@BramStoker the shape of those jeans look good, but they suffer from the “non-jeans-brand-issue” of back pockets being much too small and much too high up

Levi’s/Lee etc never get that wrong, but to me it screams “supermarket jeans”, not being snobby about where jeans come from as such Grin but small too-high back pockets just look wrong to me (and visually make my bum look huge and saggy)

Does anyone know what I mean?! Maybe I’m nitpicking

Hope that works!

Levi 720. They are slim fit, slight stretch, slightly higher waist, and come in a 28 leg if your a short ass like me ( you can get longer obviously if you have actual legs).

I treated myself to two pairs at the beginning of the year, 6 months after baby was born as was fed up of nothing fitting nicely and due to lockdown hadn’t been able to shop since buying maternity stuff.

Buggerthebotox · 12/05/2021 08:00

I'm struggling too. Most high waisted come up to my neck and the mom styles seem to add fabric and inches.

I'm also finding that I'm less likely to get into a non-stretch Mom than a stretchy skinny. I've bought a pair of Levi 501s in a 28 which I have very little hope of ever getting into, and a Hush mom pair in a 28 which look slightly more generous which I'm keeping as my inspirational pair.

My favourite pair is in a style called balloon leg from Asos at £15., Good fit, not too high in the waist and dirt cheap.

Wanted another pair, but out of stock. Typical. Grin

Cotswoldmama · 12/05/2021 09:29

@YouCanCallMeBob yeah there's no way she's a 14! But there's nearly 2000 reviews and they seem to think bang on too. I have a really small waist 11inches smaller than my hips and these are the only jeans I've found that fit perfectly around my hips and and around the waist, usually the waist is so big it gapes. These are proper high waisted too actually up to your belly button. Order some! It's free delivery if you're a member and returning is really easy.

BramStoker · 12/05/2021 18:57

@ChubbyLittleManInACampervan you are obviously way more observant than me!

...or maybe its just coz I’m getting on a bit now (46) as there was definitely a time when I wouldn’t have considered buying jeans from M&D 😀

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 12/05/2021 22:40

@BramStoker I am only sulky with M&S as I don’t ever fit their clothes (as an 6ft) Grin

BramStoker · 13/05/2021 07:05

@ChubbyLittleManInACampervan

The M&S jeans would defo be too short for you anyway. I'm just under 5'9" and bought the long version of the jeans, they are perfect length on me so would be too short on anyone taller.

M&S sizing is really rubbish I agree!
