Wedding guest outfit help

Hi , hope you can help me. I’m going to a wedding this summer, husbands boss, so I need a dress to wear, I’m pretty clueless as haven’t been to many weddings and when I have I normally end up choosing something I don’t feel comfortable in. In day to day I’d say I’m pretty stylish and can put together an outfit however I seem to get into a panic at the thought of a wedding and disregard most outfits as not being wedding worthy.
Sorry for the long ramble, I’m basically after help with looking for a dress that might suit.
I’m pretty tall around 5,11 around a size 14
And fair,so suit pale blue,navy,greens etc. I have fairly good legs and am pear shaped so carry weight around my hips. Long dresses don’t seem to fit right on me so if possible no long dresses. Any suggestions as to what I could wear. I will start my search now and post some links to garner opinions

Ideally with a pear shape you don't want a v neck or anything like a plunge, but you're a size 14, I bet you'd look fab in everything!

I think it's wedding appropriate!
Are they getting married in a church? You could always throw on a little cardi in church if you felt more comfortable.
I worked a registrar until last month, I've seen all sorts of outfits at weddings. I don't think there are many rules these days- women wear maxi dresses, short skirts, even trouser suits.
Could you get the dress and see how it feels on?

This dress from River Island is so much better IRL, very pretty and very forgiving. Elasticated waist, no creasing, beautiful print, sleeves and a flattering wrap top.

I think I will order a few and see how they look, the river island one is lovely too, not sure if it will suit my shape. Will give it a try, thank you for your suggestions so far. At least I have plenty of time to try stuff

Sometimes dress shopping is stressful so having plenty of time is a good thing

Yes, Definetly stresses me out. Especially when you need something in particular and you cant find it,but then every other time you see so many lovely things.

That blue dress will surely be very short on you at 5’11”? It’s more of an evening dress with the sequins. Is this an evening do?

Are you prepared to spend more for brands that are more 2021? Dresses that are a bit special?

Look at Net a Porter. Select: Ganni, Needle and Thread, Rixo and Self Portrait. I’ve attached a few ideas. Straw bags are very suitable to go with the printed ones. Are hats being worn? How smart is the wedding? If you wear a very good dress, you don’t need much in the way of accessories. The dress does the talking.

Also: always think - what would the Duchess of Cambridge wear? Look at her style at weddings and copy!
