Which DM's

Going to finally invest in a pair of DM's but can't decide on colour. I don't want plain black, but not sure if these are a bit too "trendy"? Hate that word, but hopefully you know what I mean!

Also, what can I wear DM's with, other than skinny jeans? I'm only 5ft 1, so I'm worried I'll look a bit like a kid playing dress up.

They can be a bit clumpy looking if you're petite, I prefer the coloured ones you can buy or the shoes. They look good with floaty dresses, shorts, midi and maxi dresses. How old are you.

I'm mid 40s and 5'4 and I wear my DMs with jeans, leggings, skirts, dungaree dresses, maxi dresses, pretty much everything really.

I wear mine with everything and have multiple pairs. For me I don't like the hardware on the first pair but I love the second pair.

Can anyone tell me what sizing is like? I'm usually a 4, sometimes 3 in converse.

Apart from skinny jeans I wear it will all sort of things,they are so versatile and can be worn with almost anything.
Straight ankle grazer, maxi dress(both flowy and body con),mini dress,oversized jumper and leggings (chunky socks if v.cold).I wear them all the time,even to the funeral ( straight midi dress,3/4 sleeves).
My favourite for the last 25 years (I'm almost 40).
If you are size 4 I would go for that size,not smaller as wearing new DMs takes time and a lot of blisters until they feel right.But once they adjust to your feet,you can walk in them all day long.

I like the second pair best. As the owner of too many pairs of DMs I probably wear my black velvet and purple pascals most. Haven’t really found anything they don’t go with yet. Even wore a pair to a posh work do teamed with a goth style skater dress. I’m shorter than you at 4ft 11 - shoe size 3.5 so usually go with a 4. Also worth looking at the teen ranges as they are cheaper and easier to break in.

Love the first pair, the 2nd make my eyes go funny.

I have a pair that I usually wear with leggings, skinny jeans or dresses. I’m 38 and petite, I do find they look a bit clumpy but I still love them.

Another vote for Solovair here. I'd read lots of poor reviews of recent DM purchases and got some 8 eye Derby boots in burgundy from Solovair last autumn. Worn them every since and they are so comfortable and still look like new.

DMs sizing is true in the Pascal if you get the women's ones, but the unisex ones seem much bigger.

Solovair sizes are weird but are on the web site. I have more than one pair and one (shoes) is half a size smaller than normal and one (boots) is a whole size smaller.

Forgot to add, I wear my 'DMs' with mini pinafores or with skirts (shoes or boots) and with dungarees and combats (boots).
