Anyone bought glasses online?

I have seen a couple of online shops - I’ve been wearing specs long enough to know what suits me. My prescription is now such that I need varifocals so it’s not a straightforward simple lens.

Is it worth it? Has anyone used one of these stores?

My DS buys his glasses online (straightforward prescription) with no issues? I have had to return all of the glasses I have bought online - I have an astigmatism. There was no problem getting a refund so it might be worth giving it a go,

I might have a go - I need new sunglasses too.

I've bought most of mine online and my most recent ones came from Firmoo, you get to chose everything and they often have sales, at opticians here I would spend 300 for glasses but from firmoo 60 was my highest price including tint and coatings etc. I'm sure there is an option to upload your prescription and they always have online chat

My OH used glasses direct too. He really liked having a few pairs to try out for longer than you do in the shops. Then sent back the pairs he didn't want. It was really easy and efficient.

Yes. I got my first ever pairs recently from Glasses Direct. One pair being varifocals. I felt the service was very good. I just picked styles I liked and luckily they look ok. Not that I wear them much.

I got mine from Specsavers, free after my NHS contribution and offer.

I've bought prescription sunglasses from Goggles4U a couple of times now. The glasses have been excellent value and take about 3 weeks to arrive.

Yes I did - I have a lovely pair of Oliver Peoples specs which would have been £600 (includes fancy lenses for my mole-like eyesight) but were £250 from glasses direct. One thing which you do need to know is your pupillary distance which is the distance between your pupils and ensures that your eye sits right in the middle of the lens. My optician wouldn't give me the measurement so I used an app to measure and when I went back to a different optician this year they said the measurement was spot on. I've bought from Glasses Direct and DP has too. They give you tips on how to take a photo they can calculate your pupillary distance from. Mine are fine, but they're not varifocals.

I buy mine from glasses direct, love em. I do a trial box of 4 frames if I'm not sure which ones to get, then order the ones I like best. I get the transitions lenses and never pay more than a £100 total for thinned lenses.

Varifocals need to ne measured individually for each eye and heights measured to the individual frame. They can't be measured any other way, other than using a lens manufacturers app. But even the app. Has to be measured with a small rig on your face and individual to the spx you have chosen. A few, honest, on line shops will not dispense varifocals and this should tell you something.

I did go to an opticians for my first varifocals though.
