Whitening Toothpaste

Does it work? What is the best brand to buy?

I've just used an entire tube of this ....

I used to use Blanx and I found it at least help to removing staining from tea/coffee if that's of use.

White glo original is great for stain removal but doesn't whiten

Nothing sold over the counter in the UK works, whitening here is a dentist job due to teeth damage. All beauty product blurb is carefully worded lies.

You can buy stuff from America if you don't mind wrecking your teeth.

I had my teeth whitened by my dentist. It's not a private practice or anything, just a normal NHS surgery in Scotland. I paid £160 and the results were awesome. They made trays from moulding my teeth. They did a laser treatment and then I did 2 weeks of wearing the moulds at night, with a whitening gel. The results lasted for at least 5 years. When I wanted a refresh, I just bought new gel for £25 and used the original moulds. I'm sure it will be more expensive now, as I had mine done about 12 years ago, but it was really worth the money.

Spotlight has worked well for me, but I used their strips alongside and the toothpaste and mouthwash afterwards.

Colgate max whit expert complete has definitely made a difference to mine. Have been using it for a couple of months now but I noticed a difference after a couple of weeks. About £12.00 a tube.

I also use Colegate Max White Expert, I buy it when it is half price in Boots as it is £20 a tube full price. Combined with a sonic toothbrush (not necessarily an expensive one) it does help.

A toothpaste is only ever going to do so much though. I have thought about getting my teeth professionally whitened by the dentist but its very expensive and I worry about pain from sensitivity. I know someone who really suffered with the laser treatment.

Best thing to do is get your teeth in good shape. See the hygienist, floss and brush well, use sensodyne (sp?) for sensitive teeth. Get them as un-sensitive as possible and then have them professionally whitened.

I had mine done, using Zoom 1hr teeth whitening at the dentist. It was £300 and lasted 4 years. Made a real difference I had lovely white teeth. I plan to have it done again soon as it's cheaper these days.
