Hush

Having lost more than 5 stone in weight, I am enjoying revisiting my old stylish self (no offence to anyone intended. I had reached a stage where I personally had left ‘stylish’ behind me).

I have just looked at Hush for the first time and really like some of their offerings. Unfortunately, unlike many other retailers at this time, they don’t seem to offer an NHS discount (which is helping with my expensive replacement of my entire wardrobe). They are relatively expensive and I’m wondering - do they have decent sales (if so, how often)? and, is their stuff good quality?

Hush do sell via John Lewis - not sure if they offer an NHS discount but thought I would mention it just in case.

Thanks Pink. Sadly, they don’t!

They do have sales, and as a first customer you get a discount I think.
I love Hush and have a few pairs of joggers, a T-shirt and a sweater from them. BUT, actually, I would say the quality isn’t that great. It feels like H and M quality if I’m honest. Which is fine, but not premium. I’m less bothered by quality material than others on here though! I just like it to look cool on 🙂 Mint Velvet and Anthropology are good quality and have nice things.

FreekStar · 29/04/2021 00:22

Hush don't seem to have any offers these days! I think the quality is a bit hit and miss- some things are lovely, others not so great. Fit is generous. I buy quite a bit because I love their styles- but send quite a bit back too,

Anthropologie is good quality but extortionate! Hush more similar to Mint Velvet in quality.

pinkmagnolias · 29/04/2021 00:37

I agree Hush quality is hit and miss and more the latter than the former. I find the clothes look very old very quickly and I have far too many clothes so it isn't due to over wearing them!

That said, they have nice casual clothes and very beautiful models which make everything look great.

I would caution you to keep in mind that their returns take a very long time to be processed and frequently need to be followed up by email before they issue refunds. I have often wondered if I didn't email them if they would bother processing the refund at all. I find this worrying.

FreekStar · 29/04/2021 07:40

I have never had an issue with refunds at Hush, always found them very efficient- even through lockdown.

FreekStar · 29/04/2021 07:41

I have the cream satin trousers and metallic knitted vest arriving today- fingers crossed they look good- the trousers get great reviews so far!

Lanique · 29/04/2021 07:43

@AnnieSnap have you tried Sugarhill Brighton? Their clothes are quite similar to Hush in style and they are offering 25% off for NHS staff.

nuttyslackster · 29/04/2021 07:45

I would agree that hush is a bit inconsistent in terms of quality. I like their styles so will still buy from time to time but the quality doesn't always match the price.

I haven’t Lanique. I will go and look!

Some good news, I emailed Hush and they do give a ‘one off’ code for 20% off for NHS staff!

I like this top. Does anyone have any experience of the quality of this fabric? It’s used in a dress and a skirt too.

I have a previous seasons version of this top. It’s very light and I like mine.

SmashingPumpkinPatch · 29/04/2021 13:47

I like that top op! It's organic cotton, which I usually love.

I have a couple of their things. Mainly casual bottoms like joggers and harems. I also love some of their tshirts. I have tried some of their dresses though and didn't like them. The ones I ordered were all polyester, which I stupidly didn't realise till they arrived. Sent them back, as I really don't like polyester.

FreekStar · 29/04/2021 14:14

I've got my eye on that top too! Can't decide between the green or blue!

I got the satin cream trousers and metallic knit vest in the mail today and they look beautiful- not tried on yet so hope they fit- they look like they will! I'm happy with their quality.

Grognonne · 29/04/2021 14:16

I have a few things, but not impressed with the quality, it seems very basic. I tend to get all my stuff at Cos as I’m lazy and their online shopping is great, but that can be hit and miss quality-wise too.

SwimBaby · 29/04/2021 14:49

I recently did an absolutely massive order and kept about 25% of it. I wanted some nice new comfy casual clothes and Hush seemed to fit the bill. I’ve since added a few bits from other shops. I kept a denim jacket that doesn’t have a collar, a lovely white dress, linen joggers, hoodie, 2 pairs of jogging bottoms, 2 T shirts, 2 midi skirts, a blouse, a bag and a cap.
The quality of the denim jacket is really good as are the T shirts. Everything else I’d say is average quality.
I added a top from Next to go with the linen joggers and a dress from M&S to go with the denim jacket so I’m all set for the summer if it ever arrives.
The joggers are super comf.
I copied what the models wear for a couple of outfits.

SwimBaby · 29/04/2021 14:52

Oh and I kept a black long sleeve cotton a bit puff sleeve top and that’s lovely quality.

Boscoforever · 29/04/2021 15:34

Baukjen. Excellent quality and they do 40% discount for NHS.

stringbean · 29/04/2021 20:22

I agree the quality of Hush is very hit and miss: the t-shirts are very thin for the price and knitwear I've had from there was appalling, but their denim shorts are the nicest - and most flattering - I've found anywhere.

pinkmagnolias · 29/04/2021 20:28

I agree with your comment about the tshirts and especially the knitwear. They are awful.

SmashingPumpkinPatch · 29/04/2021 20:40

I've had mixed results with their tshirts tbh. Some are awful, but I've had a couple of lovely ones. They are quite old now and still going strong.

Amyheadache · 29/04/2021 20:44

I think the appeal with hush is its well curated for a slightly quirky but not too mad wardrobe for trendy over twenty/thirty year olds. But I agree it’s not the best quality wise and over-priced because of this.
So many similar things in next for a fraction of the price and M&S have some brilliant stuff coming through (although shot terribly for the website, they really really need to fix this!)
I’d recommend following a few brands on Instagram to see better shot photos of the clothes on different body shapes rather than leggy catalogue models with no personality!!

Congratulations on your weight loss x

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 29/04/2021 20:47

I was really looking forward to my first Hush order and placed a big one of various items. I found it all to be really poor quality apart from a pair of joggers which i kept. However, after only a couple of wears they were bobbly and looked awful, definitely not worth the money.

I wouldn't use then again.

ToManderleyAgain · 29/04/2021 21:07

Yep, stuff I've had from Hush that's been long-lasting and has washed well: chinos, sandals, viscose dresses. Stuff that has worn very quickly: knitwear (even the cashmere) and tee-shirts.

MoltonSilver · 29/04/2021 21:11

The style is lovely but the quality is so appalling that I've banned myself from looking at the website in case I get suckered in again. Everything, bar one sweatshirt, looked like a pile of rags after a couple of washes.
