Getting hair done.. What is an average price for...

Full head balayage, cut and blow dry? On medium length hair.

Got given a quote today at the consultation/patch test and not sure if it's extortionate or average, so keen to hear what others pay as I've not had my hair coloured in over 2 years! I live about 40 mins from London.

Approx £150 for me in the Midlands

ashmts · 28/04/2021 18:44

I pay £75 for 'balayage', cut and blow dry, but really it's more like highlights with foils. The good salons round here would be more like double that (which I'm not willing to pay). I'm in Scotland so imagine it costs more near London too.

Sensateria · 28/04/2021 18:45

£210 for me.

Luckyelephant1 · 28/04/2021 20:18

Oh right maybe my quote wasn't so bad then. 175 quid. I swear just a few years ago you could get your hair cut and coloured for about 100 quid maximum 🤷‍♀️

$550 for me, plus 20% tip (Washington DC, USA) so you are getting a bargain!

Mumblechum0 · 28/04/2021 21:01

£180, Home Counties

£190 here ok South East for a mid range stylist at a salon that specialises in colour. It’s extortionate but they do a great job and after many rubbish ones at cheap places I pay up for a decent cut and colour.

Hoppinggreen · 05/05/2021 21:44

Yorkshire
Paid £100 yesterday for something similar

Lalanbaba · 05/05/2021 21:50

£170 for me if is complete color correction

Balayage is not just a standard colour though, it's an artistic and time consuming application of colour. If you were just getting cut and (normal) colour then I'm sure it would be far closer to £100.
Ruthietuthie · 05/05/2021 23:01

@Luckyelephant1, yes. It would probably be cheaper for me to fly back to the UK. Flight PLUS hair-dresser would be about the same as just the hair-styling here!!!
You should go for it. I think your quote is really reasonable. Plus, think of the cost-per-wear, as you have to wear your hair everyday. Thinking of it in those terms, it's a bargain!

wingsnthat · 06/05/2021 00:38

£150-£250 depending on how senior your stylist is as a decent salon

wingsnthat · 06/05/2021 00:40

Balayage is more then just colour though, it’s bleach first then toner/colour. In my opinion just colour is them whacking on a uniform colour where they don’t have to worry about highlight placement, blending, face framing etc

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 06/05/2021 00:42

I've never had bayalage before, but I pay my mobile stylist £100 for a full head of highlights, and a cut and blowdry. I have very long thick hair. I know if I went to a salon I'd be paying £250 at least.

wingsnthat · 06/05/2021 00:45

I have a full head of highlights and my stylist ensures my hair looks good from every angle. Eg he sees what it looks like when tied back, half up, from every possible parting. He strategically adds highlights in certain areas so my hair looks as good as possible from these angles. There’s definitely more effort and time involved than standard colour services

MrsMaizel · 06/05/2021 01:23

About 200 in my salon . Also that distance from London - South of it .

Miseryisabutterfly · 06/05/2021 20:35

Woah. So glad I cut my own hair and don’t need colour just yet. I couldn’t afford those prices (and keep up my clothes buying habit…)
