Hi everyone thanks for reading, I realise it's a massive reach from style and beauty to shopping but I couldn't find anywhere else to put this!
I need to send a suit to a family member in Norway does anyone know if M&S are delivering right now and whether it is at normal speed? I am also open to other suggestions as to where to get a suit from (for an 18 year old) thankyou.
I am also hoping to send some treats or yummy food and would really appreciate suggestions as to who can deliver from UK to Norway or websites to shop at in Norway. thanks

Hello, next deliver to Norway at the moment. Appreciate it isn’t M&S but their have an EU distribution site so you don’t get stung with import tax. Well not you, but the receipten.
My sister lives in an EU country and has been stung a lot so far in terms of importation tax so you need to find some where that has an EU distribution site.

Does m&s?
Next do.... see their q&a on their website..... www.next.no/en/faqs#deliverykeyinformation

BlackCatShadow · 28/04/2021 05:27

I’ve used Next a lot to deliver abroad and they are super fast without taxes with free delivery too.

QuentininQuarantino · 28/04/2021 05:46

Next is brilliant and often cheaper on the eu sites than the uk one. They arrive with the price tags on in pounds and it’s higher!

M&s have a Spanish site so they should deliver to Norway? ASOS do too. Gap. Eu is good.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/04/2021 05:54

I've found Next really slow since Brexit - up to six weeks once, never less than two weeks from ordering, but yes, they have a Berlin warehouse/ distribution center and not paying the postman large amounts of tax in cash for customs charges is incredibly good (I was charged 17€ for the privilege of receiving one Bravissimo bra which had taken six weeks to turn up - thats Bravissimo firmly crossed of the list of places I'll ever shop again for not setting things up to avoid that).

Zalando is an option - like ASOS they're pretty thoughly international and have every price and quality point.

Thankyou so much everyone I appreciate you taking the time to answer

Another option is to buy here, make up your mind own package and then use Fedex or DHL or UPS etc. Not very expensive and delivered in a few days

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/04/2021 06:14

FirmlyRooted the problem with that for an 18 year old being bought an M&S suit is that they will have to pay themselves to return it to the op, who will then need to physically take it back to the shop if all that manages to happen within the returns period, if it doesn't fit well or they just really dislike it on.

I'm not completely sure M&S is where 18 year olds buy suits, I'd really look online with the 18 year old amd leave the returns option open.

BlackCatShadow · 28/04/2021 06:37

For the food, I like British Corner Shop. They have loads of treat boxes and stuff.

Thanks I am in a third country! I also don't know where 18 year olds look for suits however needs must and all that..... we need it quite quickly and I'm thinking he's probably not going to wear it that much!

Notnowjo I have a 16 year old and we've been online shopping for her school graduation dress (a ceremony where we live) and we ordered 8 dresses in the end and sent back 7... If its for an interview it really impacts on confidence if you feel as though you're wearing something that doesn't suit or fit you, especially if its the kind of outfit you'd never normally wear. Zalando has lots of things my teen likes - I'd be more inclined to look there than M&S.

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 28/04/2021 06:54

Could you transfer the 18yo money to buy a suit themselves?

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/04/2021 07:03

There's also the Norwegian brand Johnnylove if they could wear smart casual (jacket and trousers) rather than a suit. If its for a university interview or a job interview for anything not out and out corporate that might be more appropriate.

4PawsGood · 28/04/2021 07:06

How about somewhere with European branches, like h and m? Easy to then exchange.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/04/2021 07:12

www2.hm.com/no_no/productpage.0902750001.html H&M is a good idea 4Paws - I'd never really have thought of them for suits but they have a Norwegian site and suits on there, like the one in the link.

doradoo · 28/04/2021 07:20

When my 16 y-old needed a funeral suit we found one in h&m here in Germany so I'd definitely give them a try.

TooMuchYarn · 28/04/2021 07:41

I don’t know about Norway, but I have recently had M&S deliveries to Switzerland, and they have arrived within 3-4 days. The Swiss-M&S website includes the tax, so no further charges, though things are a bit more expensive than on the UK site, and the selection is not as good as the UK site.
Switzerland is not in the EU, neither is Norway. I can’t comment on suitability of M&S suits for 18 year olds!

RampantIvy · 28/04/2021 08:11

Is he nowhere near anywhere that has shops where he can try a suit on and buy one himself?

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/04/2021 08:42

Shops are still completely closed in a lot of countries RampantIvy

Thanks very much everyone for taking the time to answer I will look at Johnnylove and H&M (although I was in there recently and thought the tween girl range was dreadful!!) and Zalando too.

For those who asked not possible to do it himself I have to send something. thanks again
