Trainers and dresses?

Eesha · 27/04/2021 23:32

Hi,

I have a date this week which no doubt will involve a lot of walking. I would love to wear any one of my lovely dresses but what shoes? I love my superga trainers however ill need to wear tights and my trainers are white. Or flat ankle boots? Do trainers work with tights? Im 5ft 6 and 14/16 if that helps.

I don't think tights work with trainers for me. I think boots would work better. If you're in the UK it's a bank holiday so it is bound to rain 🌧 sorry

Asposhasitgets · 27/04/2021 23:35

Why will you need to wear tights?

wingsnthat · 27/04/2021 23:38

Why do you have to wear tights? Are you uncomfortable with having your less out? If so just wear something that you do wholly feel comfortable in, even if that’s trousers.

Personally think tights and trainers look okay. It’s not the height of fashion but I wouldn’t bat an eyelid

wingsnthat · 27/04/2021 23:38

Less=legs

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/04/2021 23:39

I wear trainers and opaque tights, but only black leather trainers - Vejas, Adidas Stan Smith, or Continental 80s. I think more plimsoll type trainers are better with bare legs really.

It’s six degrees here right now, single figures all week, and mainly rain - definitely still tights weather!

Eesha · 27/04/2021 23:39

I hate the cold and yes, might rain. If it were warmer, I'd definitely go bare legged!

Is the dress long like a maxi? I've been wearing a pair of leggings under my maxis with trainers to brave the beer gardens and out walking.

You can't see them and then I get to wear my trainers without socks just as I like them.

Eesha · 28/04/2021 04:18

@omgwhy its mid length though i think yours is a great idea too! My ankle boots are flat however im so relaxed in my Supergas that i would like something where i don't have to consider achey feet at all!

Do you mean nude tights and trainers? Or opaque?

Depending on the dress and the trainers the latter might be ok but not the former.

Procrastatron · 28/04/2021 07:37

Someone on here recommended nude micro-fishnets the other day so I went out and got some. Haven’t worn them yet but they reported them to be warmer than bare legs.
Expanding in @omgwhy’s idea, would some snag “chub rub” shorts (or similar) work? Warmth for the upper legs at least?
Otherwise it’s ankle boots with tights but only if you have a trusty comfy pair!

newnortherner111 · 28/04/2021 13:41

I think flat ankle boots. Agree about the weather and not having bare legs!

NoSiree · 28/04/2021 13:43

I'd go ankle boots with tights tbh. Or maybe you could wear a thermal top and cropped leggings which don't show under your dress, to stay warm without the tights and white trainers thing, which I personally don't think ever looks right.

stylistmum · 28/04/2021 16:14

trainers with tights can be hard but superga's work well in my opinion!

Frenchdressing · 28/04/2021 16:15

No trainers with tights. I’d go trainers with hidden leggings.

Janaih · 28/04/2021 16:18

I wear nude fishnets with white trainers.

NoSiree · 28/04/2021 16:39

Nude fishnets could work!

I was thinking opaques, which you do see with white trainers, but which I don't think really works aesthetically.

Janaih · 28/04/2021 17:05

I think black opaques could work in a high denier. Basically the same as wearing black leggings with white trainers which lots of people do.

NoSiree · 28/04/2021 17:29

I don't like black leggings with white trainers either really! But yes, lots of people do wear them. I think tights are also a little bit worse as they don't have the gap in between. But maybe a very stylish outfit with opaque tights and white trainers might change my mind Smile. The only thing I find really unstylish is rigid fashion rules! There are always exceptions.

Procrastatron · 28/04/2021 17:46

I really hope the OPs date appreciates the amount of effort going into how she dresses her legs Grin

Eesha · 28/04/2021 18:23

@Procrastatron hehe! Im sure he will be in trainers. My legs are pretty decent so i would like to wear a wool dress so im going to go with flat buckled boots. I would hate to be teetering in heels so this is the happy medium! The only thing now is i can't bear the cold and given today's weather, im thinking of foregoing the leather jacket and wearing a coat.

Jeez, just wear jeans - it was freezing yesterday!

this. need to get my black flat Top Shop leather boots (ankle) reheeled. so comfy and work well with dresses

where did you get your nude micro-fishnets from please? guessing Primark as M&S don't seem to have them!

thanks!

Procrastatron · 30/04/2021 13:43

Got mine from calzedonia but I haven’t worn them yet. Not cheap at £10 but worth a go.
Amazon might be a good option

thanks - Primark did used to do some nude fishnet tights a few years ago but unsure if they were micronet.
