Oversized blazer for wedding

We’ve been invited to an autumn wedding this year and it’s such a novelty at our age after the pandemic that I’m already thinking about an outfit. I also want to make the most of the discounts on the more formal clothes that are around at the moment.

I have a dress already (pic of green dress) and I really like the oversized/boyfriend fit blazer over a slip dress look (other pic). I’ve been looking but can’t see anything online that fits my criteria:
Oversized fit
Not black but open to pattern
Longer than sleeve length
Not brown - need a cool undertone that works with the green of the dress
Ideally something that can be repurposed for work
Not sure it exists Sad
You ladies are good at suggesting brands that aren’t on my radar... any ideas?

And other stories and Arket both do good blazers

Offredismysister · 28/04/2021 07:39

Hush do this one in a dusty Pink or Navy & both Mango & Zara have some nice colours.

Thank you but I’ve scoured both websites already Sad. I think the problem is I don’t know what I’m looking for exactly. Apart from maybe some kind of grey check or maybe a nice navy. Whatever I find needs to look deliberate and not frumpy. It’s quite hard to put together in my head

My first thought was that it's quite a casual look. Is the dress a silky fabric?

Procrastatron · 28/04/2021 10:14

Yes the dress is silky without being shiny and a good weight (it’s from Reiss). I’ve worn it to a summer wedding before with gold jewellery and nude sandals
I’ve actually just bought this which is probably too short and fitted for the look I’m aiming for but I absolutely love the pattern so am thinking it’s a good investment for when we go back to office working:

I should have said before, this wedding is semi formal and I’m not a florals and pashmina type of dresser.

@Offredismysister i missed your post. I saw the hush one and gave it some thought. I think the colour would work perfectly and it would look lovely but I would be unlikely to wear that colour for work or casual. I’m definitely coming out of the wedding phase of my life so I need something I can re-purpose.
I do already have a perfectly nice and wedding appropriate jacket. I guess I just want to try something different.

Anything here look good?

tbtf · 28/04/2021 18:57

Might this be too green?

Oh I do like this thank you @tbtf. I will see what I think of the Paul Smith jacket whrn it arrives this week. I’m pretty certain now that it won’t work with the dress but it could be very very cool for work. If that’s the case I will wear the existing perfectly acceptable and much more wedding appropriate jacket I already own and stop being such a try hard. If I return the Paul Smith I may well order this one thank you!!
