Hair appointment tomorrow - need ideas please

So I have very grey curly fine hair that hasn’t been cut for over a year except a trim by me

It’s just below chin length at the moment and a big frizzy mess. I need some ideas for tomorrow. I’ve grown it from a short shag cut and would quite like to keep some length and a kind of tousled look.

What face shape do you have?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/04/2021 18:55

I think the curly look sounds great. Would a few layers in and a curl product stop it looking so frizzy? I have quite long curly hair, and it doesn't look right if I go too short with it.The curl actually takes it up about 3", so it needs to be longer to accomodate that iuswim. I appreciate you might feel differently of course Grin

BasiliskStare · 26/04/2021 18:55

I would get any split / rubbish ends cut off but as blunt as possible at the bottom & if it is fine try not too many layers. The heavier the better & then it won't frizz as much

NB I am not a hairdresser Grin

notacooldad · 26/04/2021 18:58

I would talk it through with the hairdresser. They will see and feel the texture if your hair, see the shape of your face your build and you can talk about how much time you can spend on it.

PickAChew · 26/04/2021 19:07

How much curl does it have compared with this?

@DeadCertain
I think it’s rectangle/ inverted triangle

@PickAChew
I think my curls are tighter than that but it’s very fine

Omg....you have beautiful hair and a gorgeous colour. It just needs a good cut to tidy it. I would LOVE your curls.

HoopersHat · 26/04/2021 20:10

I don't have any ideas to offer but I wanted to say I love your hair wish mine was that curly

DeadCertain · 26/04/2021 20:11

What about an angled lob - type cut? You'd get to keep the length at the front but have some shape and can get some volume with shorter layers?

I tend to look on Pinterest, save to my phone and show my hairdresser what sort of looks I like and he adapts to suit (or tells me they won't work and suggests alternatives) - I really trust him though. Yours may have some great ideas that you've not considered.

DeadCertain · 26/04/2021 20:11

Just seen your photos, your hair is gorgeous!!!

DeadCertain · 26/04/2021 20:12

Ignore lob - I had pictured more length before I saw the photos, sorry!!!

ElizabethTudor · 26/04/2021 20:15

It doesn’t look like a big frizzy mess. I’d love those curls!
Can you ask your hairdresser (assuming it’s your regular one, and they know how to deal with curls / your hair) to just get rid of the ends, neaten and tidy it up, cut it into a sharp shape.

Laggartha · 26/04/2021 20:17

Your hair really is lovely!

Hooplawho · 26/04/2021 20:37

Those are lovely curls! I think I’d just have a trim as it looks like they bounce up and are quite tight curls (jealous - mine are more spiral/wave) just to tidy it up a tad. Hope you get a cut you’re happy with Smile

Whoopstheregoesmyshoulder · 26/04/2021 20:38

Beautiful
Hair. Just get any dead or wispy bits lopped and it'll be even more lovely. It's lush

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/04/2021 20:44

thanks everyone for your compliments! The photos make it look better than it is, especially todays one.

see it is quite thick - there is a lot of it - but its fine at the same time
@ Elisabeth Tudor Its not my regular hairdresser - I don't really have one, so I'm tempted to have not too much off like @Mumdiva99 suggests, but I cant visualise a sharp shape

If you're lucky enough to have a hairdresser that knows anything about curly hair. I'd go down the Devacut route

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/04/2021 21:06

Deva cut outside my price bracket at £150 !

If it's not a hairdresser you're used to, I'd just lose the dry ends, for now. Make sure you can trust them not to murder your gorgeous curls.

Mine is thick, coarse and wavy and I'm always terrified when I have to try someone new because some are just intimidated by the amount of hair I have (I always pay for senior stylists, now I can afford it) , some can't handle the idea that I don't want to wear it straight and most insist on thinning it, which was great when I wore it dead short and textured but is a recipe for frizz, now I have it longer.

custardbear · 26/04/2021 21:37

You've got lovely hair! I'm rubbish with hair but please post a photo tomorrow 😎

PickAChew · 26/04/2021 21:51
