Mother needs a wedding guest outfit

Hello lovely S&B gurus, your assistance or ideas would be much appreciated!

We have a family wedding at the end if May, woohoo, has been postponed a few times due to corona.

My mum ( granny of the groom) is struggling to find a suitable outfit. She’s in her 80s, prefers trousers to dresses, 5 foot and about.
16-18 Uk dress size. She says she wants something in mint green or turquoise, but she’s more of an autumn colouring and I don’t think mint would do her any favours.

Budget up to £200.

All suggestions and ideas welcome!

How about a dressy wide leg trousers/tunic top outfit, made or tailored to fit?

NotMeNoNo · 25/04/2021 16:07

www.weddingpearls.net/floaty-trouser-suits/ like this I mean.

SuperSange · 25/04/2021 16:12

That's lovely!

Following as we have a similar issue with MIL although at 90 I'm not sure she's any colouring Grin

It doesn't help that she's not interested in new clothes either.

@NotMeNoNo

£700 though!
DietrichandDiMaggio · 25/04/2021 16:23

For those of us that know nothing about 'autumn colouring', what colours do you think would suit her?

NotMeNoNo · 25/04/2021 16:25

Yes I meant that style not that exact website!!

DogsSausages · 25/04/2021 16:25

Would she wear a trouser suit

NotMeNoNo · 25/04/2021 16:35

Or you could make up an outfit of co-ordinating separates from Kettlewell using culottes or wide leg trousers and a wrap/ cascade cardigan over a loose top. That would be really comfortable and She could wear them again but glam up for the wedding with accessories.

NotMeNoNo · 25/04/2021 17:03

Or this outfit (with a little tailoring) and out style everyone there! www.karenmillen.com/curve-luxe-gold-trim-detail-shirt-/AKK00112.html

Following with interest as I’ll have the same task this year for my mum.

Just after seeing this jacket on the Hobbs site - It's a steal at £45! It would be perfect if she would wear a pair of black trousers and a stunning bright blouse in a contrasting colour maybe??

Have a look at this site and see if there is anything that you think your mum might wear (there are some nice outfit suggestions):
fennwrightmanson.com/collections/wedding-guest-outfits

I don't know why it's automatically assumed that if your a woman you'll suddenly want to wear a dress to a wedding. There aren't many suit combinations or suggestions on many sites but I'm sure we'll be able to find something if we put our thinking hats on.

JaquelineBeanstalk · 25/04/2021 19:04

That nightingales 3 piece is lovely, I think she’d look great in it.
