PPD Free hair colour- anything to use at home or would a hairdresser help me out?

So, 5 years ago I had an allergic reaction to ppd. My head and face swelled up and I ended up being taken to hospital and on steroids for a couple of weeks after.
It was really scary.

Since then I have just embraced my own colour, after all it is naturally a lovely dark brown. However, the last 12 months I've started to get a number of greys mostly on the underside of my hair so when I tie it up it looks quite bad. Or maybe just bad to me as I know its there IYSWIM.

Anyway I've found that I'm always wearing my hair down which is a faff as it's so thick because I hate the way it looks up.

So, has anyone here ever found anything they can use at home (aside from the lush henna thing as apparently that's messy, a huge faff, takes hours and is a bit hit and miss), or is it worth asking my hairdresser if she can help me find anything? I've found this one online but I'm utterly crap at colouring my own hair.

I know it sounds really vain but it's really getting me down lately and I don't know what to do.

Obviously I'd opt for a darker colour, they also do a dark brown.

Though have just been looking online and saw that perms are in....my hair always looks so much nicer if I curl it, so maybe I should consider a style that makes me more comfortable leaving it down.....
