Best gentle RETINOL for very mature skin?

Asking for my Mum :)
She's over 80 but very with-it and takes great care of her appearance.
She's asked me to buy retinol. Given her skin is likely to be thin, what can you suggest? Main issues are pigmentation and lines.

I've never used it but DP recently bought some L'Oreal retinol serum which had good reviews by a beauty.

And I'm stumped as reviews are so mixed.

She's got such high hopes that they might reduce her lines. (She has pretty good skin for her age.)

Indeed Labs is a lovely gentle starter retinol. If you wanted to push the boat out then Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 would be nice, but Indeed felt pretty much the same to me.
