Saltwater sandals sizing

I’m looking to buy a new pair of Saltwater sandals but can’t see the size on my current (very old) pair and can’t remember what the deal is on sizing. Am I right in remembering I need to go up a size, or that the sizing in American? I’m normally a UK size 6.

Yes one size up in their sizing, as they are large. You would normally be an 8 US. In SWs you should be fine with a 7.

I bought my mum a size 4 and they were massive so I had them, I'm usually a 5.5!

I am a five/five and a half UK sizing, and I fit a 6 in Saltwater. I have my daughter’s here new in the box, they are a SW size five, and the box has a handwritten additional euro size 37 UK size 4. I think they might also fit a four and a half but they are too small for me.

Yes. If you are closer to a five and half you may find the six in SW a better fit, but the seven would be the most sensible starting point. I have a vague memory that their sizing varies slightly by style too, just to add to your confusion !
Some UK retailers allow for the sizing difference and re label the sandal box with the appropriate UK size, so make sure you which they are using before you buy.

Yes I’ve just realised the reason I’m so confused is that some sites seem to have sizing as “UK 6” - so I’m guessing they’ve allowed for the difference/relabelled?

Yes I think they have already converted. A lot of places do this to be helpful as SW sizing is specific to the brand so people get very confused.
