Spotty skin suddenly!!

Choccyaddict4eva · 24/04/2021 14:10

So I’m 36 and I feel that my skin has suddenly become awful! I’ve always had fairly good skin bar the teenage years, but even then I wouldn’t say I had acne, just the usual spots when I was due on, and some breakouts here and there. I feel that the last 6 months I just keep breaking out! Firstly on my chin (it was really bad) which my doctor gave me a cream for and that cleared the spots up, but now I’m breaking out on my forehead, throat and chest area and back! I never expected this at my age! My skin care routine is pretty basic, I cleanse twice a day with miscellar water and I use a primer by smash box before I put on my concealer and bronzer. I never wear foundation. Someone please help with some magical tips and advice!!

Any spot is acne same as any nerve pain would be neuralgia, it’s just a medical term not a separate condition.

You need to see a dr for treatment, you’ve got a bacterial skin infection that requires antibiotics. They won’t mind you ringing up for that. You never see a female dr with bad skin do you?.

6 months is a long time to suffer.

@Fluffycloudland77 thanks for your reply. Have you ever had a bacterial skin infection that you sought treatment for?

Oh how long have you got? 😂

Yes, I had topical treatments, my skins sensitive so I moved on to antibiotics, they worked for a bit but then my pcos kicked in at 16 so I was on dianette for a few years till it gave me migraines so I was contraindicated from that, moved to another pill but it was rubbish.

I was embarrassed to go back (hcp make rubbish patients) so I bumbled along with facials, masques, exclusion diets, glycolic acid skincare, batshit internet remedies (I was like one of those cancer patients who reject chemo for a vegan diet & homeopathy) until my skin literally exploded at 41 and then it was cystic acne that was so sore I woke up in the night because my spots hurt. I’d get 6 overnight and I’ve still got scars but they are fading very slowly.

Dh eventually persuaded me to see the dr who basically said she wouldn’t put up with it either and sent me off with a repeat for lymecycline while I waited for dermatology who prescribed roaccutane.

Now I wake up spot free every day & dh uses it all as an example of when he was right and I was wrong.

I never had spots as a teen, started with them at about 38 years old, 42 now and just getting them under control. I use body shop tea tree wash which has been the best so far on my skin.

I’ve had bouts of acne on and off throughout my 20s and 30s. Lymecycline has worked really well for me in clearing it up. It’s never been permanent, I always seem to get the spots back after a couple of years but I have PCOS so there’s probably something odd and hormonal going on with me. Anyway; would recommend asking GP for a course of lymecycline.

Oh my goodness! I remember being prescribed Dianette when I was 15 for my spotty back...it made me so sick I stopped taking it after less than a week. So glad to hear your skin is now better 😊

Isn’t it weird dealing with spotty skin as you get older. I’ll look into the face wash, thanks 😊
