Comfy durable sandals for walking that don’t look ugly?

(Not Birkenstocks!) But has anyone found any sandals which are great for walking in and general comfy day to day wear? Perhaps something like merrells or camper or similar? Yet stylish?
And very versatile?

I got some Toms sandals a couple of years ago that are really comfy but look nicer than ‘walking sandals’. I wouldn’t do a hike in them but they’ve been fine for walking around on holidays and day to day in summer.

balloonsintrees · 23/04/2021 23:44

Any of the leather type sandals from Skechers also Seasalt summer mule type sandals (they have a back strap are smarter and very comfortable)
I'm a secondary teacher and had a hip replacement a couple of years ago so comfort is key for me!!

I've had some regatta Santa Cruz sandals for the last couple of years. They are not stylish but not ugly either. The most comfortable sandals ever.

Divineswirls · 24/04/2021 00:05

Fit flops and Clarks.

emsyj37 · 24/04/2021 00:07

Moshulu? Not tried them myself but I hear their boots and shoes are very comfortable.

Clymene · 24/04/2021 00:14

Seasalt sandals are lovely but absolutely lethal on cobbles. I nearly went arse over tit the last time I wore them on holiday abroad (sob). I have some fugly Merrell type ones for hiking in hot weather which have better grip. But I wouldn't want to wear them for walking around a town!

coodawoodashooda · 24/04/2021 00:17

Clarks

Kingdombythesea · 24/04/2021 00:19

Ah thanks so much some fab some suggestions. Have ordered a couple that have been mentioned. Seasalt look nice but probably I mean something a bit more suited to long walks and yes, the occasional cobble !

Teva are great

Kingdombythesea · 24/04/2021 00:24

Are they quite hard wearing @stuckinarutatwork?
I quite like the look of them but wondered
If they’re more foamy or rubbery on the sole part?

I have some very similar to these, have walked miles in them and the straps are thin enough that they aren't completely fugly imo.

RosesAndHellebores · 24/04/2021 05:09

Joseph Siebel work for me. I even wear their Betsy Clog as house shoes/slippers.

Vionics

stuckinarutatwork · 24/04/2021 06:51

@Kingdombythesea Yes - very much so. I wore a pair pretty much non-stop for a whole year on a round-the-world trip. I hiked in them, walked miles around city pavements, wore them in the sea / rivers and they still had tonnes of life in them when I got back home.

ShaunaTheSheep · 24/04/2021 06:54

Josef Seibel Tonga 25 are very comfy. All the straps are adjustable so great for hot weather. Leather lined and a soft footbed.

I’ve had four pairs of these in diff colours now. Super comfy. Sole is ergonomically shaped. Stay on really well. Wear them for work (lots of standing in retail) and holidays. Best sandals I’ve ever had.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 24/04/2021 07:02

These are the best sandals I've ever had - so comfortable and well made. I'm very tempted by another pair in a different colour.

Another vote for teva here, comfy and great for lots of activities.

Blueuggboots · 24/04/2021 07:13

Oh yes, I have had tess in the past and they're brilliant.
I've now got a pair of keens. Yes, they're a bit less stylish but so so so comfortable!
I can't wear sandals or any shoes actually with a really thin sole.

Lovemusic33 · 24/04/2021 07:13

I have Teva and Art company sandals, both comfortable and worth the money.

Mn753 · 24/04/2021 07:16

I have some nicer looking (promise) Crocs flip flops that I live in

Kingdombythesea · 24/04/2021 07:23

Wow so many brilliant recommendations on this thread. I want most of them.

OP posts:
BringMeTea · 24/04/2021 07:42

Teva universal. Love mine. Walk miles in them.

PollyThePony · 24/04/2021 07:48

I have some Fitflops and they're great, but not for a proper walk in the mountains or anything. You probably want hiking sandals?

When my Fitflops die, I am replacing with Birkenstocks though, I have to say! The Milano ones. But not for a while as the Fitflops have plenty of life left.
