Acne scarring

Hello! My 18 year old son has acne scarring in both cheeks. It's the type that's flat, but each spot has left a red circle where it used to be. The acne has all gone but his cheeks still look spotty due to the red dot scars covering both cheeks. I know the sun will fade them in the summer but he's asked me if there's anything he can wipe on to fade them quicker as he's quite self conscious.

So if anyone has used anything I would really appreciate knowing how to help him, especially with links. Thank you.

They contain excess melanin so sun will make them darker.

He’ll need an anti pigment treatment like vitamin c but he also needs a high spf separate sunblock. You can buy the ordinary powder vit c and mix the two together. If it stings you put too much vit c in.

Skinoren can help with this. My GP prescribes it for me. It’s helpful for acne as well as the red/brown marks that acne leaves behind.

Good news is that that is not scarring but hyperpygmentation which should fade!!! Acne.org has good info. A BB cream (I see no reason men can’t use this?) is very subtle and evens out my hyperpigmentation nicely.

Laser treatment will get rid of anything like that.
