How can I be stylish while needing boob access?

Hi all,

I’m 4 weeks post partum, and so far have been in the house (toddler and newborn) so have been in loungewear or leggings and can freely get my boobs out to express breastmilk and breastfeed.

However, I’ve now started planning some outings with friends and family, and am not comfortable getting an entire boob out for feeding (mahoosive boobs) - I also don’t want to live in leggings for much longer!

I’m “dumpy”... 5’3, size 16-18 (have a belly, arse and thighs so pretty evenly spread), do have bit of a waist. Boobs size 36G/H (not entirely sure, but they won’t go near my old 36E bras!)

I’m looking to buy a few key items to last the next year or so of breastfeeding/pumping. I’m not loaded so looking at high street items.

My “style” at the moment is non existent.

What do you all suggest?!

Following as breastfeeding nearly 4 month old DS but due to lockdown, haven’t needed to do it outside yet!

Also have huge boobs - 34JJ atm I reckon & pretty sure they are still twice the size of his head at his age!

I bought a couple of breastvest vests. They sit just under your bra line so cover your torso but allow you to wear any tops etc with it.

I’m breastfeeding my 3rd child. I’ve found that something different works with each one. This time I’m really liking B Shirts. I use slings a lot so can’t do one up one down, and these tops are brilliant.

I wear the one from the day in bed at night without a bra as I co-sleep, and then into the wash.

I’ve also bought a few (button fronted) jumpsuits which I’m really liking. A whole outfit complete without thinking!

@randomsabreuse hadn’t even thought of hoodies!!! heads back to amazon

I’ll take a look at B shirts, thank you!

If you Google can I breastfeed in it they do have a website as well as the Facebook page. Also TU at sainsbury's have a special page with all their breastfeeding friendly items.

I'm a similar size to you OP and I prefer dresses so have been sticking to wrap or button fronts or pinafores with a nursing bra or vest underneath.

Now DD is 8 months I'm also using a muslin over my shoulder because although the head to boob ratio/coverage is better now she's bigger there is also more chance of her pulling off to look around and thus treating all passers by to a full view of my norks Blush

@WutheringShites86 ooh that’s great they have a website, I will check that out!

Ahh the joys! I had originally planned to exclusively pump for this baba, but he likes boob so doing a mix. It occurred to me before that I won’t really want to pump when I’m on a day out, but also can’t have my boobs getting engorged. So going to have to feed in public, despite my master plan!

I’m sure it’ll be fine 😬

Watch jumpsuits with slings if you're on a solo outing! If you need to take the sling off to pee it gets awkward. Also watch lowish cut v-necks when carrying, my 1st attempted to help herself from the sling and was a bit off target, got an impressive love bite from that off target latch!

Flappityflippers1 · 22/04/2021 00:55

@randomsabreuse the love bite has made me laugh! There’s no risk of that here and I don’t think I’ll ever be attempting a bfeed in the sling - he’d have to be down by my belly button my nips are so low 🙈

Excellent point about the jumpsuit mind! Although I almost always will have the buggy with me too, only do sling only on v short outings

If my boobs had been better positioned for feeding she'd have helped herself properly, but nipples not accessible without adult sized hands rearranging the location!

I had a few tops and dresses from Boob Design, including one nice dress for parties etc.: www.boobdesign.com

I was a huge fan of leather look leggings, vest top, oversized white shirt, chunky cardigan and boots or trainers.
