1st Highlights in hair salon after Lockdown

Hi
I normally visit my hair colourist every 6 weeks for half head highlights. I have pretty fast growing hair that is also incredibly thick and long. Naturally dark hair highlighted blond.
I fully realise that with 17 weeks in between appointments it will likely take a while to build up the colour again and there will be patches that have gone much darker roots that won’t be covered with 1 visit. However I’m really not happy! A lot of sections at the front/ top of my hair of my roots he coloured is more orange coloured rather than blond- would this be a result of coverage too caused by the delay in between appointments ? Has anyone else experienced Similar in their first hairdresser visit?

Sounds like the foils weren't left on long enough to get to blonde. Contact them to correct it for you

I'm getting my highlights redone tomorrow and my last appointment was just before Christmas. So glad to get ridnof my roots again

Did you have a toner put on?

dementedpixie · 20/04/2021 17:12

If the hair isn't lightened enough in the first place then toner won't help.

I’m not sure re. toner ... Ive been going to him for 10 years. Hate situations like this!! I spent 4 hours in the salon with an hours commute each side j can’t do it again

He’s either not left it on for long enough or not used the correct level peroxide..
I guess it’s a case of contact them and say you want it looked at and corrected or just wait for your next appointment.

It’s really annoying as he’s changed salons and it’s too small to have overhead heaters - so my foils just sit there and he occasionally comes over and blows over with a hairdryer... clearly doesn’t do the job. Thanks all for comments. I’m heavily pregnant with 2 school age DC so just no way I can waste another half a day trekking into town. I’ll have to wait till next time.
