Help me with my hair

I haven't done anything with my hair for two years apart from a trim.....the last time I dyed it was an ashy darkish brown...

It's quite wavy but the front sections are straight and nothingey. I did used to have a fringe which hid my giant forehead....I always wanted the curtain fringe, Boho look but never got there somehow.

It's just looking rather bedraggled - any ideas lovely MNetters?

I have an appointment for a cut and colour with possible balyage (?!) in a couple of weeks eek.

I have no idea what skin tone I am - I'm pale ish with Hazel eyes...hair is ashy brown but mildly reddish in the sun. I don't tan easily!

Honestly if I looked like that I’d be happy Grin I’m sure a trim will make you feel like it’s not bedraggled

You are so pretty. I like your colour and style as it is. I’m not sure I’d change much if I were you!

Thanks very much both!

Short bob! You will looks great whatever :)

How do you want it to look? It's fine IMO.

Having said that, I have similar hair. It kind of curls if I put loads of product on it and scrunch it and defuse it. But I need straighteners to make it sleek. It is 'hard work' hair. I can't have it too long, otherwise I just feel like I can't be arsed doing anything with it and scrape it back. It's easier to manage when it's just above my shoulders.

Freddyfuzzbear · 20/04/2021 06:34

I want it to look more like it has a style I suppose. At the same time I can't be arsed to style it. It's really dense and takes ages to dry.

I wanted to do something with the colour (balyage?) but don't know what colours suit me....I look alright with darker hair but wasn't sure whether to ask for dark with caramel highlights or go for a more coppery red...

It's a difficult one, because your hair colour already really suits you, but I understand that need for a change. I always get told to leave my hair as it is, but sometimes you just want something different.

In terms of balayage, which is what I have, I probably would go for a darker base colour to really make the balayage pop. I don't mean like super contrasting ombre, but I would say you have quite warm reddish tones in your hair and it doesn't really work against a caramel balayage imo.

You are beautiful! What about trying this curtain fringe, I think it'd really suit you. Trim your hair a few inches but I wouldn't go for a bob in your case, as much as I love bobs your waves are just lovely and a bit shorter length might help them look more wavy. Also please don't go blonde! Multi-tonal brown, perhaps some bronze and dark copper mixed with it would look great.

Freddyfuzzbear · 20/04/2021 19:33

Thanks I think I will go for just a bit off the length, curtain fringe and the dark base with coppery red toned brown balyage?!
