Are sonicare toothbrushes really any better?

I saw an offer today on the Philips Sonicare toooothbrush and as with everything else self care need to take better attentioan to dental, and wondered if my teeth would really notice the difference vs my current electric toothbrush ... they are still ££ even with an offer but if they’re that good then might give it a go... anyone got one and got a view?? Tks!

I have a top of the line Oral B (genius x) and love it - I don’t see the point in paying more for a Philips as it does everything I need it to. I also don’t really like the range of Philips brush heads - there’s more choice with oral B

There is a very popular cheap sonic toothbrush on Amazon, who's name escapes me and it's really good.

We have Oral B and Phillips too, so have a comparison.

I had a sonicare ages ago. When it died I bought an oral b (upper price segment) but it wasn't as thorough as the sonicare. I had more build up which it didn't remove. So when this one died I switched back to sonicare and am very pleased with it.

My advice would be to buy the most basic sonicare. Much of the other settings and accessories you won't probably use. In my experience electric brushes last about 4 years until the battery starts to die, although I have had my current one almost 5 years and it shows no signs of aging.

My teeth don’t feel clean with a manual or oral-b. The oral-b also felt like it was trying to rattle my head off. I really disliked it.

I’ve had both but have gone back to the oral b. I agree that the sonicare one is much smoother, but it was no good for my gums and I got a build up of plaque on some teeth. I’m back on the big standard oral b now and happy with it. Luckily DH gets on ok with the sonicare so the ££ wasn’t completely wasted.

My dentist said Sonicare was best but my hygienist said Oral B was (same practice). I’ve actually gone back to Oral B as I think the round brush heads have more potential to get around each tooth.

I prefer sonic rather than the round oscillating toothbrushes. Mine is a cheap thing from Amazon,it’s bloody good though.

Apparently oral b is better because it’s mechanically more through at breaking down plaque etc according dentist

However I feel like there’s a tractor recount it’s way around my mouth and hate it: sonic are for me every time

I have a Fairywell from Amazon...it’s brilliant.

I also have the fairywell and really like it. Go regularly to the dentist and they seem happy enough

I've had more than one sonicare, but decades ago now. They were good in terms of the cleaning and I liked the timer. The down side was that they didn't last very long.
