My nails are awful

Anyone any ideas? My finger nails have stopped growing. Apart from a small bit of white then that’s it no more.
My toenails are even worse in that they are ridged and actually break/are broken really low down.
I’m 53 and wondering if it’s down to my age. Has anyone else had the same or have any ideas please? Thanks.

No, but watching with interest, as I am same age and have awful nails that split/break, and cannot find anything that strengthens them. Everything I've tried that needs to be painted on makes them a lot worse, but creams/oil have no effect either - no idea what the solution is, so I hope someone comes along with a few suggestions!

Since the beginning of lockdown I’ve been taking Perfectil, Hair, skin and Nail supplements. Before that I’d always had terrible nails and had tried every cream, oil and varnish on the market, nothing worked.
I has taken the best part of the year to see the difference, but now they are strong, grow and don’t flackery or peel.
I guess I was low in minerals and should have had a blood test.

Salon gel manicure and pedicure?

My nails are awful, so I normally have acrylics (obviously not happened due to lockdown) the biggest thing that has helped me has been cuticle oil religiously and buffing them to stop splits/rough edges. They don’t look brilliant but my acrylics are going back on soon!

My nails are terrible too (I'm a similar age). I had acrylics for years, but they've been off now for over a year and my nails still haven't recovered.

I was already taking nail and hair supplements, and over the last year have tried so many things - nail hardeners, cuticle oil, nail oils etc. And no growth and no improvement :(.

I'm sorry - I know that doesn't help you op but hopefully it's a bit comforting to know you are not alone on the nasty nails front!

Sorry, no ideas as mine are the same, just awful. They peel or break at nothing. A small break in the side & that’s it, break really low down near the quick so it hurts. I’ve tried all sorts. Nailtiques used to help me grow them fairly well but it’s shot up in price from around £12 to stupid prices, cheapest was £60. I read that the factory had burned down, don’t know how true that is.

Mine were dreadful after 20 years of continuous gels. Exit Damaged Nails has really made a difference to them. They’ve stopped flaking and crumbling now.
