I need all the help I can get. This is a (dreadful) photo of my make up free face.

I currently use No7 stay perfect which I don't think does me any favours.

Any other recommendations appreciated which could bring a bit more life to my face. I'm a bit of a make up novice.

What is it about that foundation that doesn't work? What look are you trying to achieve? How do you apply your foundation?

Itsthecatsfault · 18/04/2021 14:03

I used to use that one too, but found it went a bit chalky on me. I now use the protect and perfect in the same shade. The game changer for me was discovering the no.7 highlighting drops. I’m quite fair, but a drop of the white gold in with my foundation just makes it glow in a very subtle way.

It doesn't seem to work with the redness. I have a primer for redness which perhaps helps a bit.

I just want to look flawless Grin. Too much to ask??

Realistically I'd like to look less tired with a more even skin tone.

Your skin without makeup up is pretty flawless anyway! You haven't got much to hide! I used to love no7 but have gone off it a few years ago. Tropic make up is my new favourite.

Thanks - I'll have a look at that one. The highlighting drops sound like they might help.

Forgot to say, I apply with a brush but I could probably do with a new one, maybe a sponge would be better? Or fingers?

Thanks russell19. I've heard good things about tropic.

Clinique even better glow. Found a recommendation for this in a thread on here a few months back. I love it. Gives a bit of a glow to the skin. Foundation is nice and not too heavy. Evens out skintone. So easy to apply as well and doesn't go cakey. Lovely foundation - really recommend!

I use Futurist Hydra from Estée Lauder and it’s good.

My skin has a lot of flaws and redness. I use a thick foundation which covers the lot. It’s by Doll 10 and I buy when they do a set of makeup pieces as a Today’s Special Value.

The beauty of it is that if you try it and don’t like it you send it back for a full refund. No matter if you’ve used loads. All you pay is postage both ways. You have 60 days on everything from makeup to clothes.

YellowSanta · 18/04/2021 16:02

Your skin looks good so I don't think you need anything too heavy. You could try a concealer for the parts you find too red. Urban decay do/did a good green colour corrector I used when my redness was quite bad. Just go lightly with it!

emsyj37 · 18/04/2021 18:42

Your skin is pretty good. You don't need a heavy foundation. If you want to bring life to your face, foundation isn't the product for that. I would try a CC or BB cream (Erborian CC Redness Correct might suit, they sell a small travel size so you can try before buying a full size) - then a cream blush, maybe Stila convertible colour or the Shiseido whipped mousse one. And bronzer - cream or powder. Foundation is just there to even out your skin tone, so if you want life in your skin (1) look at your skincare routine and maybe try different actives to improve your glow and (2) try blush, bronzer and highlighter.
