New to skincare- a plea for help

I'm bit late to the skin care revolution as I just can't work out what I need.

Hoping for some recommendations and what you have experienced following such a regime. I used a glycolic tonic last week abs some hyaluronic acid and skin felt soft and smooth but no idea what I am supposed to be doing!

Had a look at the ordinary and the price is great but heard mixed reviews.

I have very dry skin that becomes reactive in cold weather and gets red and sore around nose /mouth/ chin . I'm 40 and don't have many wrinkles but do have thread veins on my nose and some lip lines.

Hopefully someone can help me out!

CHs book is good but all the info is on her blog mainly on the 'cheat sheets' section.

Sali Hughes and Nadine Baggott have good YouTube channels with more affordable products and less complicated routines. Dr Sam Bunting and Dr Shireen Idriss are dermatologists with good YouTube videos.

I started out learning from CH but her product recommendations are generally high end and she is a fan of layering. I have simplified my routine and use less expensive products with the same effect but I've learned what works for me. I think my main message from CH was throw your money at your serum/active ingredients and save on cleanser/moisturiser. Introduce things slowly so you know what's working and what you react to and it doesn't need to be a 6 step routine or the same every day.
