Nice tops for a busty size 12?

I am close to deciding I’m just going to wear my old maternity T-shirts forever because it seems impossible to find any nice tops at the moment! I keep ordering stuff online and sending it back as it either looks awful in the flesh or doesn’t hang right. That’s when I can find anything to order that I like. I can’t work out if my taste is just out of synch with what’s in the shops at the moment or whether I need to change where I shop.

Can anyone recommend anywhere for tops for a busty size 12 (as in about a 32/34G)? Ideally I’m looking for scoop neck or v-neck (higher necklines just emphasise the boobs in a bad way), short or long sleeves, and thick enough fabric that I don’t need a cami underneath.

Any ideas?

Have you tried boat next tops? I have a similar problem re big boobs and find a boat neck is usually flattering

OneStepOneStumble · 11/04/2021 13:47

Following as a size 12 32/34 hh/J cos all tops seem to be too short or too see through or too boxy and make me look huge!! Hoping there's a holy grail of clothing out there for me! I'm fed up of Jersey dresses and just want to wear jeans and a t-shirt once in a while!

@MyCatHatesOtherCats Try here? www.bravissimo.com/collections/all-clothing/

Following with interest as a fellow big boobied lady! Smock tops make my tatas look even bigger, fitted tops do nothing for my jelly belly. The struggle is real 😫

AugustRose · 11/04/2021 13:55

Following too. I sometimes have to get a size (or two!) bigger but then the waist is too big and not flattering at all.

Fluffyandsilly · 11/04/2021 13:58

I’m a size 10, 32FF/G.
I tend to wear t shirts slightly oversized. Long sleeved tops I just accept will probably make my boobs look huge but again, I think the key is for them not to be too tight. I buy plain crew or scoop necks from places like H&M or New Look.

If you are looking for something pretty and more dressy I’ve just bought a couple of tops in this style from New Look. This tea blows style is very flattering for my bigger bust:

Thank you! I am also struggling because my tummy is bigger than I’d like at the moment and so anything more fitted is liable to make me look tubby/pregnant but a lot of what I’ve found just hangs straight down from my boobs and is really unflattering.

Why do I always forget about New Look?! That’s a lovely colour.

@Cardboardeaux, that’s an interesting suggestion - I’ve never tried boat neck because I assumed it would look like I’d dropped melons down my top but I’m happy to be proved wrong!

I’m kind of glad it’s not just me! I need some smarter tops to wear with trousers/jeans for work and some more casual ones for hanging out with the kids.

@DoubleTweenQueen, thank you - I do like some of the Bravissimo clothing but was hoping not to have to spend £40 per top! Might be worth it for the elusive “white top for with work trousers which isn’t see-through” though....

@MyCatHatesOtherCats I find it really difficult to find nice things that are made to accommodate even a modest amount of boobage, without having to size up too far. And I have no idea why so many summer dresses have such high necklines and no sleeves! Good luck x

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/04/2021 14:19

I've always really struggled with tops (am now a busty 14, but struggled even as an 8/10).

Just bought this for wearing with shorts/rolled up jeans in the summer.

Springfern · 11/04/2021 14:29

A wrap top?

Fluffyandsilly · 11/04/2021 15:19

@Springfern has a good point about wrap tops.
They look good on me as long as they have enough coverage.
I’ve got a couple of jersey wrap tops from Whistles which come a bit low but look nice for a night out or with a cami under them for the day.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 11/04/2021 15:20

Im a 12 and a 32F.Just bought some cap sleeve t shirts from next and they fit lovely

DoubleTweenQueen · 11/04/2021 15:25

@Fluffyandsilly Yes - Camis are great for underneath something favourite you can't quite do up as high as you used to! I have got a few this year to wear under favourite linen or cotton shirts, and a couple of wrap or shirt-dresses which are lovely but a risk of gapey-ness (for which I have also invested in a slip). Really good inexpensive fix.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/04/2021 15:44

I really rate these camisoles from Jigsaw, and have several colours.

FreeFallingFree · 11/04/2021 16:13

These might work for you? The stretch means they fit better over the bust. The double layer front is quite flattering. They also do a sleeveless and scoop neck version. There's 20% off offers fairly frequently. Failing that, the Bravissimo sale is my fallback.

I cannot recomend these highly enough the cut is lovely, so cheap and come in lots of colours.

athousandstrawberrylollys · 12/04/2021 14:06

Suprisingly flattering on and loads of different colours-size 12 fits perfectly without looking massive -I’m 34f/g and around size 12 for reference
