Need your help re tinted moisturiser

I’m not very good at make up so need your help!

I don’t often wear make up. Just if I’m going out out or to a wedding etc. I tell myself this is because I have good skin and don’t need it but the truth is that I’m just too lazy to make time to apply it. And although my skin is relatively good the mirror doesn’t lie and having just turned 40 I think I need more of an everyday approach to make up.

My foundation which was purchased years ago (lol) is about to run out and has gone out of production! I like the look foundation gives me but cba to apply it daily with a brush etc.

So I’m thinking that perhaps a good quality tinted moisturiser is what I need? I could use daily to look a bit more presentable? But can apply by hand?

Educate me! And any suggestions of brands etc would be really useful. I’ll wait until I can go into an actual shop to get advice on matching up to my skin tone - I’m white British but not overly pale.

I saw the number 7 boots hydro luminous tinted moisturiser one recommended on here a few times. I bought it and it’s fab.

Bare minerals do a good range of shades at the pale end

Nivea tinted moisturiser is good. There's only 1 shade I think (might be 2 actually). It's very cheap, has the Nivea small and gives good coverage.

I'm a big fan of tinted moisturiser. I never wear foundation. I've tried loads, there often isn't a great shade range so you there's a bit of trial and error. What works for someone else might not work for you, people rave about the IT cosmetics CC cream and I liked it but it was too orange for me. My holy grail is Nars tinted moisturiser, closely followed by Beauty Pie.

Oh thanks for these. Super helpful. Keep em coming!

I have even heard of some of these brands 🤣. To the extent that I “do” make up, I do like Nars stuff.

I use Elemis Glow Priming Moisturiser which I find gives me a healthy look. And then just use liquid concealer when required.

SappysCurry · 08/04/2021 20:12

I really like the Clinique moisture surge CC cream, it’s very light on the skin

YourCakesAreShit · 08/04/2021 20:13

I use the IT Cosmetics CC cream in Fair Light - it's glorious. I feel weird when I look at myself in foundation, now!

I have heard good reports about this too

I believe Nars do a good tinted moisturiser too. When life reopens next week, you could go to a counter and get them to advise on shade. Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is also good.

You apply with your fingers and just rub over your face. You can use a sponge but make sure you wet it first then squeeze out so it doesn't drink all your product, but tinted moisturisers are best applied with your fingers.

Tightwad2020 · 08/04/2021 21:10

I use Laura Mercier or Nars. Both have good coverage, especially the Nars, are oil free so don't go greasy, come with SPF (although not enough to substitute for actual sunscreen). THey cost over £30 a pop, so choose in person, but they last a long time.

Jane Iredale Dream Tint is amazing. A little pricey, but so worth it. My skin is ridiculously sensitive, but doesn't react to this at all. My dream is to have an entire Jane Iredale-stocked makeup bag Smile

Laura Mercier is good

I've got the tarte one at the moment and that's good

You can put it on with your fingers but I also like it with a sponge

Thanks so much. So many options to look into 👍

La Roche Posay do a great tinted moisturiser that's non clogging, I love how it makes my skin look, completely natural for everyday. Perhaps not as much coverage as the Nars, but it's been my go to recently - skin feels totally bare.
