Why do we get dry hard skin on feet?

I get dry hard skin on my feet but it can't be because I don't moisturise them. How do I know this? Well DH has never put moisturiser on his feet but skin is baby soft! Why does this happen?

Because your on your feet, depends how long your on your feet for, the type of shoes, if don't wear socks inside shoes, the pressure is on your feet than someone that wears socks and shoes/trainers and doesn't do much standing.
You can make them smoother with peels and files, moisturiser but it's an ongoing treatment.

It's a genetic difference. Some people have elephants' hooves; and others do very little, yet enjoy the baby soft skin of the divine.

I always had baby soft feet until I moved to a hot dry climate and pretty much ditched socks. Also only wear proper shoes to work, otherwise I live in flip flops. Now my heels get horribly dry and cracked despite regular moisturising and paraffin wax pedis. Its bloody annoying.

It's the way we walk. Mine are awful because I don't walk 'properly'.

I file and moisturise mine and they are still like sandpaper, DP does nothing to his and they are baby soft and smooth, it feels very unfair.

I file and moisturise mine, but of course the minute I walk again the hard skin will re-create itself to protect my feet.
