Does drinking water really work

Hi all
I currently drink 2 litres of water a day. I have to admit I've only drank this amount for the last few months as previously I only drank coffee all day not just water on its own. I read all these articles which say how wonderful it is for you and how your skin will love you for it!? I can not see any benefits at all. Does it really do wonders for you or is it a bit of a myth 😂

Being well hydrated does wonders for your health definitely. Not sure about skin...

DinosaurDiana · 07/04/2021 15:40

I tried it but just felt sick.

GertrudeTheGreat · 07/04/2021 15:40

Not sure...I've always drunk a lot of water, but I don't think I have particularly wonderful skin.

I think alcohol and sugar are factors too. Avoiding both would probably do a lot of good. I don't drink, but I do like sweet things, which is something I really need to work on! Once the Easter chocolate is gone Wink

I drink a lot of water regularly and have decent skin. But I guess the latter is due to wearing factor 50 spf daily, moisturising religiously and a couple of other skin care elements. I guess if you have dehydrated skin and don't drink much water, when you start upping your daily water intake you may see a difference. But, like with many natural remedies, it's a little hit and miss, IMO.

I have always been terrible at drinking (water or anything). Been trying to make more of an effort and when i do i definitely wake up looking better.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 07/04/2021 16:05

I have been making more effort to drink more water, eat more fruit and veg and less sugar. My skin looks fab but I can’t tell you which has helped the most. It looks terrible after this weekend as my diet has been mainly sugar and alcohol based

PeacheyPeach · 07/04/2021 16:33

I guess I will just carry on and hope that internally it's doing something 😂 I actually think since I've introducd a skincare routine, ditched the alcohol left the sweets alone I've never looked so bad 😂

After suffering from kidney problems many years, doctor's have always said to drink plenty of fluids. Any fluid, tea, coffee, juice counts. I'm not keen on water.

Mellonsprite · 07/04/2021 16:49

I haven’t seen any benefits on my skin tbh. Plus I hate needing the loo so often.

Gwenhwyfar · 08/04/2021 14:20

I think most benefits would only be visible for someone who was dehydrated before.

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 08/04/2021 14:54

Complete myth. Drink to your thirst.

goose1964 · 08/04/2021 15:44

It's a myth, it doesn't matter what you drink and drink until your urine is clear.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/04/2021 15:48

Water is 90% of my drinks, I still look like a 43yr old who looks a bit shit, I drink it because I genuinely prefer it to most other drinks.
