I am on the bones of my arse right now financially as I've just had to buy a new washing machine, we've had a leak and our tree landed on top of our front wall which has needed sorting asap as it was dangerous. So, lots of unexpected expense. All will be fine when I get paid but that's not til the end of the month.

My niece is 18 next week and I'd like to get her something nice - but I can't afford much. Do you think this necklace would be nice for her. She is obsessed with birds (hence the feather) so I thought this might be OK?

My DD would have loved that at 18 (and still would!). I think it’s a great gift. She can wear on its own or easily layer it with other necklaces, and it’s a half price bargain!

jessstan2 · 07/04/2021 14:49

It's very pretty indeed, I'm sure you will love it.

TwoBreakingIntoOne · 07/04/2021 14:50

Really nice

laughoutquiet · 07/04/2021 14:51

Yep, looks good.

UCOinaUCG · 07/04/2021 14:52

It is lovely. I would caution though that some people prefer silver to gold. My DD1 would love that necklace, my DD2 would never wear it as she only wears silver jewellery.

Oneearringlost · 07/04/2021 14:57

Lovely, OP. I would cherish it if it were given to me. I'm 56Grin

Oneearringlost · 07/04/2021 14:59

God, I hope you didn't take that wrong way, I sincerely meant it was lovely and a lovely present. I just read back my post and wondered whether it sounded flippant, like " a good present for a 56 year old"
Didn't mean that all. Go for it, she'll love it

quizqueen · 07/04/2021 15:12

I don't know any 18 year old who would want to wear that, I'm afraid. Actually I don't know anyone would would wear it. Jewellery is really such a personal choice. A £20 gift voucher would be better.

Feetupkettleon · 07/04/2021 15:19

It's beautiful! I want one nowSmile

bonfireheart · 07/04/2021 15:28

It's lovely OP. She likes birds and she's your niece, it'll be really appreciated.

jessstan2 · 07/04/2021 15:30

Well I think it is beautiful, so delicate looking.

Janaih · 07/04/2021 15:32

My 21yo dd would love that.

Motnight · 07/04/2021 15:47

That's lovely, Op.

LooseThreads · 07/04/2021 16:12

I think it's lovely.

SuperintendentHastings · 07/04/2021 16:47

Thank you folks - I've ordered it for her - I couldn't get hold of my sister earlier hence my asking, but I've sent her a photo and she reckons she'll love it.

Not a fan then @quizqueen? Grin I agree that jewellery is very personal but I hope I know her well enough. I don't think a voucher is a very personal gift for an 18th present for someone I'm close to if you know what I mean.
