Blending out the grey growth - highlights?

Help me please! I have very dark hair naturally, I'm half Singaporean, half English so do suit my dark hair.

However as the grey has crept in more and more, I need to colour it every two weeks. It particularly shows at the temples and parting. Even after a couple of days, I start to see a few shimmers when it catches the light.

I use Matrix So Colour 5.0N which is great on stubborn greys but wondering what any one else does with dark hair and to blend the greys.

Is it time to start going lighter by having highlights and then touching up the roots with a lighter colour? I'm thinking Sofia Vergara for example. Her hair has got lighter and looks fabulous. I can't however afford regular fortnightly trips to the hairdresser to have mine done so need something that I can continue to maintain at home.

Does anyone have any tips on what you do please? Thank you x

Just to say, I've tried root touch-up powders/colour wow/sprays etc but looking for something to actually disguise the greys

I face the same issue and a few weeks ago had some caramel-colour highlights/balayage (my hair is dark brown). It has helped the grey re-growth look less stark/obvious when it comes through. I think it’s going to be expensive to maintain though!

I went lighter, had a balayage and it looked fab. Unfortunately my hair hated the bleach and it just made me frizzy.
If your hair is ok though it can look lovely and very good at managing the grey.

With the root touchups, did you/will you go to the salon or maintain at home? And I've seen some styles where they've put lighter pieces around the face which masks the grey even more I would imagine.

I think I'm going to do the balayage. I've got quite coarse, but brittle hair. It probably won't like the bleach either. But I am definitely not ready to go grey. It's so disheartening when after only 4 days I can already see them coming through!

I used to be the same with the grey. Literally days later it would be showing.
I had the lighter pieces around my face. I used to use a box dye and do my own roots. Used to use a shade lighter than my natural colour and leave it on for way longer than it said on the box.
It really did look lovely, my hair just hated it though. I've no choice now but to embrace the grey.
