BB/CC Cream Recommendations for 40+

Morning MN,

Can I please ask for your BB/CC cream recommendations for 'older' skin?
I'm 41, skin is relatively clear - with a few fine lines. I'm too old for foundation now, but there are times where I need to even out skin tone.
I have a good skincare regime, using Tret and lots of moisture so whatever I get it needs to be able to sit on top of SPF (any good recommendations for that too?!)
I basically want to look like I'm not wearing makeup, with fresh dewy skin (not sure it's possible at my age, but will try!)

Dead sea magik beauty balm from Holland and Barrett. Comes in just one shade 'natural' Adjusts to your skin tone, cant recommend it enough, I'm late 40s.

SpeckledyHen · 06/04/2021 13:44

I see that Bluesheep has beaten me to it . It’s brilliant.

ILoveFlumps · 06/04/2021 13:51

Amazing, thank you both - will take a look at that!

the garnier anti age one is quite good but bobbles if used on top of other creams.

Bluesheep8 · 06/04/2021 14:01

Have a look at Bare Minerals complexion rescue op, I really rate that too.

LordEmsworth · 06/04/2021 14:06

41 too old for foundation?!? I missed that memo!

I am 43 & wear foundation most days, when I don't I use Bobbi Brown Nude Finish tinted moisturiser to even things out & add a bit of polish.

Rainallnight · 06/04/2021 14:07

I’m loving Trinny London BFF cream. I’m 45 and sound like I have similar skin to you. It’s SPF 30 and I’ve never worn it over SPF, though I’ll need a higher SPF as we get into summer

SymbollocksInteractionism · 06/04/2021 14:10

I'm 41 and use Max Factor CC cream. It's £4.99 in B&M so a bargain too!

stealthbanana · 06/04/2021 14:23

Glossier skin tint is fantastic - looks like my skin but just a bit nicer.

I also love a particular neutrogena tinted moisturiser with spf but it is getting hard to find

India knight recommended nars tinted moisturiser again in the times this weekend - anyone tried that? It sounded good but b expensive.

Rainallnight · 06/04/2021 14:25

I’ve got the Nars one. I do like it, but it’s not super light and I really do like super light. I think if you’re more used to foundation, it would be fine.

CatsGoPurrrr · 06/04/2021 14:35

Try The Ordinary Serum foundation. It’s a really light coverage, but does wonders. I’m 47, btw.

TheOnlyAletheia · 06/04/2021 14:35

Erborian is very good 🙂

PumpingPamela · 06/04/2021 14:40

@stealthbanana I found the nars one reeaally thick and pigmented. I actually grew to like it after a while (and I love that they have so many shades) but it took some getting used to.

mermaidsariel · 06/04/2021 14:43

I’ve used the clarins one for ages and also REN in th roast. Both really good.

mermaidsariel · 06/04/2021 14:43

Past not roast!

Boood · 06/04/2021 15:27

I’ve tested a few recently.

L’Oreal c’est magique- wasn’t impressed. It’s heavily reliant on silicones to give a blurring effect, and I thought it felt quite dry on my skin. I felt if I wanted something so heavy, foundation would look better and actually clog my skin up less.

Lily Lolo- not enough coverage for me. Not awful, but not as good as Erborian. Decent budget option, maybe.

Erborian- really good. Lightweight and doesn’t feel like wearing makeup. This is the one I’ve stuck with. It’s obviously twice the cost.

LizzieMacQueen · 06/04/2021 15:41

I use Clarins tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. It has SPF 15.
They'll send you free samples if you need to confirm the colour you need.

Thats the one I use. I love it!

Ooh I like the hydraquench moisturiser - didn’t realise they did a tinted one

Nars sounds way too thick, I hate those super pigmented ones, I’d rather wear foundation!

Ghostlyglow · 06/04/2021 19:55

Trinny BFF

Deathraystare · 07/04/2021 11:48

I like the Garnier on and also Avon do a good one. I quite like the Nivea one but even though my cheeks are dry this is rather too creamy (probably putting too much on!). Same with the La Roche Posay one. A bit too creamy.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 07/04/2021 11:52

Max Factor CC - I like this too. Its so cheap, and I use so little I mix the 2 palest shades to get a perfect match. Sometimes I put it in with my moisturiser so its even more sheer.

QuentininQuarantino · 07/04/2021 20:23

I love Erborian BB and CC cream but it isn't half expensive! It is brilliant though.

I like the look of the Trinny London one, the videos always pop up on my FB. Might try it!

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 07/04/2021 21:46

Garner CC cream is cheap and good. For foundation I use Armani Luminous Silk which is lightweight and lasts.
