Summer wardrobe help !

needadvice54321 · 05/04/2021 21:49

Hi

I'm desperate for help with my summer wardrobe. I dread it, I'm very body unconfident and really struggle to find clothes I feel comfortable in

I'm 5ft 7, large boobs, apple shaped, size 20/22 with ok legs

I normally wear awful denim shorts. I have difficulty finding good fitting trousers/shorts. I need a larger size to fit my stomach but then they are saggy around my slimmer thighs

Last year I discovered dresses. Only basic ones, but T-shirt material, elastic under boobs (empire?) and knee length. They were a revelation and lovely and cool. I'm now thinking I want to consider more dresses? However don't know where to start? What about full length? I'm also crap at wearing the right shoes. I can't wear heels due to bad joints.

Anyone fancy helping me out with ideas?

Thanks!

Weird fish have lovely cotton shift dresses which are a very flattering shape.

Shorts look awful on most ‘normal shaped’ people, I’d ditch them.

Go with dresses, they sound like they flatter you. Try floaty knee or midi lengths, v-neck will flatter your boobs.

Where do you like to shop?

Get some nice sandals or comfy trainers. Dresses and white trainers looks good. A denim or faux leather jacket for cooler evenings.

Have a look at Popsy- dresses, jumpsuits and playsuits. They have a Frocks and Friends FB and a preloved page. The only downside is the lack of cotton dresses, but they really are very flattering and they have pockets.

Hi Op. a few years ago i had the same revelation, shorts are horrible and a dress in the way to go! Being in aus, I can wear dresses for 8 month os the year. i am a similar height and a size 16au (18 UK) and I buy most of my dresses now from Uniqlo. they are generally made of really good quality fabrics and simple classic cuts. often i buy the multiples of same style just in different colour (or buy in a light colour and dye to desired colour). i steer away from t-shirt material - not great for my body shape - too clingy, i also don't do maxi length. read the reviews carefully - sizing is mental with uniqlo (so much oversized stuff - which is great but can be a bit tricky to buy online) UK uniqlo have great sales too.

i wear with nice flat tan, black or rose gold leather sandals daily. also wear vans a lot with my dresses.
dresses are amazing - so easy and simple to wear. i actually enjoy warm weather so much more now!

Just wanted to come back and thank everyone! I've just received a popsy dress and it looks great!

Ooh which one did you get? I love mine, I have a few. Some people seem to have loads on the FB page.

Hope the link worked. Just bought this one and am loving it. Am a bigger bombed (gg), size 20/22, with a big tum, and 5ft 6. Ordered a 18/20 &22, as never know what might fit. The 18 fits well on the bust, and the dress is not clingy. Is cotton, so feels nice, also worked today with a denim jacket. Can be dressed up or down too, so think I will get a lot of wear out of it. Now looking at others in the range!

And it has pockets Smile

I'm a little taller but same shape, join fuller figure wardrobe on FB, lots of items for sale and recommendations and support. I found this dress from a post and it is so flattering, amazon surprisingly has some nice dresses. This is very lightweight and so not hot.

Also check out Jody on prettybigme on YouTube, she does a lot of trying different brands, styles etc. I've bought a couple of new look dresses following her videos and love them, I never shopped new look for years as sizing was awful.

I like wearing jeggings and long loose tops around stomach and longer cardigans rather than short coats.

I'm already on that Facebook page but I never see anything I like to buy Sad. TBH though, I really only join pages like that though to try and give myself confidence. The amount of times I see someone out and about, similar size to me, and think they look amazing. I'd imagine myself looking like a sack of potatoes. I get so envious! My confidence is shocking Sad
