jeans for the pear shaped...

I remember as a teen in the noughties, being mightily relieved when low rise jeans came in - until then I had spent a fair while struggling to find jeans where the hips fit me, but the waist didn't gape massively. Now that waist-bands are rising again I'm finding myself with the same issue - my waist is literally 2/3 the size of my hips, and this doesn't change when my weight does. I've recently bought myself about 10 pairs of jeans, and all of them gape massively at the waist - a belt doesn't help because the waist band just ends up folded over and looking crap.

Any suggestions?

Same. These three have worked for me, all different style since you haven't said what you are looking for.

Anything but skinny really, though I find straight leg a bit shapeless on me. I'm looking forward to the return of the bootcut!

I love the look of those mango ones. Unfortunately I'm not a size 4, which is the only size they have left in stock!

Depending on if you flexible on the colour they may have them in different shades?

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 05/04/2021 22:16

Hmm. I hated low rise. My hips are 42 inches waist 32. I bought the boot cut from Marks and Spencer, the 19.50 ones.

My hips are 42 but my waist is 28.

I've got the M&S Sienna jeans and they are a good fit for me - my waist is a size smaller than my hips. Buy jeans for your waist size, especially if they have stretch.

I'm a pear and have found Sainsbury's Tu jeans good

Buy jeans for your waist size if I do that I can't get them up over my hips!

I used to buy my jeans from Dorothy Perkins, but they discontinued the style I liked. I now buy from Next. I’m limited as Im petite too. I’m also a pear shape and I go for straight/slim cut. Skinnies are a no go as they emphasise my pear shape. I can also still find plenty of low waisted jeans.

theworks · 05/04/2021 23:02

ASOS and American Eagle so some of their jeans in a fit specifically made with a little extra room in the hips. Has been a game changer for me as a pear shape. The AE ones are called 'curvy' and you should order the right size for your waist measurement. The ASOS ones are called 'hourglass' and haven't tried these yet but will be soon.

theworks · 05/04/2021 23:03

Just to add I have a size 28 waist (when not pregnant!) and found that the American Eagle size 6 (US sizing online) in the curvy fit is absolutely perfect for me. My hips are about 41 inches but you'd be fine at 42inch I think.

Sounds good the works.

I recently found some jeans that actually fit! It’s these ones:

Levi bold curve
Or get them altered to fit

I like NotYour Daughter’s Jeans - expensive but I buy mine on EBay. I have a 25-inch waist and 37-inch hips.

If you read my post again you will see I have the same issue as you and these particular jeans fit me well when I bought the correct waist size. They have stretch which means they fit my hips and don't gape at the waist.

I have never worn low rise anything because they just never feel comfortable and I want things to fit on the waist so they don't feel as though they're going to fall down.

Meripenopause · 06/04/2021 15:10

I'm not quite as extreme as you (29 waist, 39 hips) and Garcia 'Caro' Jeans are the best I've tried. Garcia also make 'Bliss' which are designed for women with The Gap.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 06/04/2021 15:12

I have the same problem and mostly have to get jeans taken in at the waist.

If you're feeling spendy, JBrand and Paige are pretty good for curvy figures.

ReluctantEarlyRiser · 06/04/2021 19:53

I have a pair of New Look Tori's that fit nicely.

Meripenopause · 07/04/2021 16:42

Correction - Garcia 'Caro Curve' are best I have tried for pear / hourglass.
Salsa 'Bliss' jeans are particularly for women with more than 10 inches between waist and hips.

Sainsbury’s girlfriend jeans
