The gp tried all sorts for ages which nevet worked, then she ended up on roacutane which made her so dreadfully anxious which has never really left her and now she is in therapy for this . I dont want this journey again with my son . Can anyone advise on anything that you have tried that has worked, I'm totally lost now

Dd had terribly acne at that age. Fortunately she could take the pill which helped enormously. Generally try to avoid anti-biotics as they mess up your stomach, and wouldn't take Roaccutane as she is prone to depression.

So, the pill worked for her. But what also helps, as she still gets the odd breakout, is cutting down to absolutely as pure as you can get products. So, no benzo anything, no alcohol, nothing drying. She uses BodyShop Aloe face wash and face creams. She uses their banana shampoo. Micellar water for cleansing, and then spot treats with pure tea tree oil. She did use the tea tree products for a while, but they were also irritating to her skin, so she had to stop.

I think be very careful with topical treatments as it's a deeper sebum production which cannot be addressed with topical care or diet.

Medication will be the only think you work. If is a few spots go for the topical if you have nodules it needs medication.

Duac cream cleared my son's acne. Have you asked the GP for this?

My son developed really bad acne at the start of puberty last year on his face, chest and back . He's 12 (nearly 13) and go prescribed erythromycin.

It's been amazing and has cleared them up almost completely. He gets the odd one but the difference is remarkable. It took a good two months to see a difference and he's about 8 months down the line now and his skin just gets better and better. No side effects at all.
