What's new for spring/summer?

Actually what would be your "go to" google to find out what clothes are going to be around this spring/summer? Not catwalk stuff, which maybe fun to look at, but stuff ordinary people might be wearing?

No one? Sorry it's a bit of a boring thread title! Grin

It's not a boring title at all! I have no clue though, I'm out of the shopping loop and I've gained weight. I'm looking at Instagram but lot's I see is too trendy for me or too frumpy. I want stylish but decent fabrics. I'm a bit stumped tbh

tobee · 03/04/2021 18:10

Ooh Instagram I hadn't thought of that! Who do you follow?

I just wanted to window shop from home as it were! Maybe buy some things if I'm inspired. Trying to imagine a life after lockdown. Smile

Also wondered if Pinterest is a good place to look? And what to search?

Personally I just look at the 'new in' section of brands I like and shop with to see their Spring/Summer stuff

tobee · 03/04/2021 18:25

I was looking at my Next app which I use for basics but feel it's a bit "safe" sometimes. Although it looks better this season than recently.

Yes that's probably the way to go.

I feel like my mind has been numbed to anything other than lounge clothing Grin

I’m finding Next a bit boring lately, I used to buy a lot from them but it’s seems so frumpy and dated now, I like their basics so buy shorts and jeans from them and buy tops from somewhere else.

Looking at a few places online it seems comfortable and baggy clothes are in? Maybe they are aiming thins at people like me who have gained weight over lockdown but don’t want to buy the next size up? 🤣

I’m struggling to find much I like the look of but I don’t really like most of the popular shops and seem to find better things on Etsy or from smaller retailers. I have ordered a cord dress from Lucy and yak today but I will probably change my mind when it turns up. I’m looking forward to the shops opening in the 12th and seeing what’s new.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/04/2021 18:59

I have absolutely no idea what's 'in' but I've just bought some camouflage cargo trousers, which I'm enjoying wearing with a biker jacket and which I'll wear with a denim jacket, utility jacket or denim shirt when it's warmer.

Thereoncewasababy · 03/04/2021 19:14

I saw somewhere that 90's style jackets are in for Spring but I'm not sure I can see myself wearing one

mammmamia · 03/04/2021 19:18

Hi OP I feel the same after so many months of winter and lounge wear.
I do what a PP said and look at the New In sections of ASOS and similar sites.

Theyrenotdrawsmate · 04/04/2021 02:04

I have a folder on my computer on the bookmark bar - style and beauty - and in it I favourite any websites I like for clothes so I don’t forget them. Look on Instagram or wherever for shops you like the style of/that fit your style, favourite the homepage and you’ve got tonnes of it when you’re looking to buy things.

tobee · 04/04/2021 02:23

Thank you for the replies! I will get looking. Smile

I don't imagine any fashion retailers will be taking many risks this year, so I'm not expecting much change at all, except maybe full length trousers beginning to creep back.

starfish88 · 04/04/2021 11:33

I like looking at mango. They have some really nice stuff this year. I also like the clothes in zara stores but the website is so strange it's hard to work out what the clothes will look like. I also look at H&M and Asos for inspiration. Pinterest is good for style rather than fashion because some of the popular pins are years old but style rather than fashion is better for the planet anyway.

Tehmina23 · 04/04/2021 12:11

I'm looking at longer dresses as my legs are a bit bigger this year (I'm on a diet) and found a couple of beautiful cami beach midi dresses from River Island online.

Both £38 but I got almost £6 off with my Blue Light Card discount.
They fit really well.. ok the length is almost maxi on me but that's fine. They are beach dresses but IMO too nice for the beach.

I also bought a black & white maxi beach dress from New Look.. it's got thin straps, a square neckline & 2 splits. But I have to get it altered as it's too long.
Again got BlueLightCard discount so it cost me about £14.

Finally got a short cotton blue & cream smock dress with elbow length sleeves from Accessorize.. they had a discount day so it was £40 but I got it for £29.

What I'm desperate for this spring is colour!!!
